My speedo is way out!
Hey everyone, signed up to ask if anyone has ever experienced a Ninja 300 speedo that is about 10%-15% out. Not the usual way where a displayed 100km/h is an actual 90km/h,
i'm talking where a displayed 100km/h is closer to an actual 112km/h. . . Everyone else always seems to be so slow that i finally got to compare it to my brothers ER-6n (he just got his license) and it seems that when i'm doing 100, he's doing 110 to 115. Anyone experienced this, and is there any cheap and easy way i can fix it if so? Damo990 |

A 15t front sprocket will get you to within 1 MPH at around 80 MPH, very close to being perfect as confirmed by GPS.

Yep. Stock rear tire? What gearing is on it? Unless the actual speedo is broke, the countershaft speed is the only variable. Used or new bike? 15t front and stock rear 42 will get you about as close as you can get.

It is possible that the other vehicles are way too optimistic and that your bike is closer to actual speed, as old3 explains above.

Thru gearing he can adjust the speedo. Different tire diameter too, but that should be pretty minor in comparison to sprockets.
Confirming your gearing and then true, actual speed via GPS is the right first steps. Know what you have in reality. The gearing on the bike might explain it easily. |

Isn't the speedo in the 300 taking the input from the front wheel as the 250's?

I called my local dealership this morning and they said they can't adjust it, but he's gonna call Kawa and see what they say, might replace the whole speedo. |

What gearing is on it, just count the teeth if you can't find the number on it.
