AFM Round 1 Buttonwillow: Full Races
Going to post up my three races from this weekend. First up is Novice 500 Twins. I came in 3rd of 8. One of the two guys I was battling for fourth with ended up going off track after I'd passed him and so did one guy in front of me which put me into 3rd
Enjoy! Constructive criticism and negative feedback are much appreciated :P Novice 500 Twins race

In zones where you find yourself using slight braking try rolling off and maybe dropping a gear instead. Feel the bike settle, feel the front tire load a little and plant. Maintenance throttle then power out.

instead of doing this and washing your front out, don't do any of that and just turn the bike while staying WOT.

add turning, or gas, or braking. but not at the same time. if you are already at WOT, you can add turning without losing the front. just don't crank the bars.... even if you do crank them when you're upright, it doesn't even matter if you're on the gas, it just chirps at first

oh! and as a frequent crasher I can tell you to be very conscious of how hard you weight the bars.
Protip - don't do it. Use your feet on the pegs. It helps you feel the bike more and lets it work itself out beneath you. Wiggle your fingers (like spirit fingers) in the turns to see how your death grip on the bars is.

One thing to add is to make sure that your outside leg is locked onto the tank properly, once it is everything feels like it falls into place. It's probably easier with rearsets than the stock pegs but it's possible to get the feeling with the stock pegs for me. The feeling being pressure from both the outside foot on the peg and the outside knee in the tank, really makes you feel like you're locked onto the bike when you dip it lower to the ground. |

It was the r6, but think about that for a moment.... If I can wrestle the r6 down with a good forceful countersteer, then the 250/300 will be more manageable. Alex is right, but take care with those words. Like my pic above, takes some "balls" and a good feel for what is going on with the bike. Build one's skills to that level, don't rush it and don't just go blindly searching for it, because it can and will put you on your bum, been there... done that...

I've been on my bum from trying to go too quick too soon, I learned that one early on. Kinda sucks when it happens.
Looking at the track map for my local track, shenandoah at summit point, WV There is a chicane portion so I'll know how I'll take it this summer. Then again the whole track looks like a complicated paradise with each and every corner being it's own challenge. I love whoever designed it. 22 corners of pure bliss. http://summitpoint-raceway.com/track...ndoah-circuit/ damn, just thinking about it gives me chills. One thing at a time though, gotta build my track bike from the ground up first. |

Novice 250 superbike. In this race as soon as I passed tiff I went as fast as I could to make sure she couldn't pass me, little did I know she had given up on that race
