New Member, SoCal!

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Mark, and I just signed up for the MSF course. Class begins May 10, so I'm actually really excited. Depending on how the course goes, I'm looking to buy a 250 within the next month or two.

As far as gear, I've only bought some bilt gloves from cycle gear, and i plan on just wearing jeans a jacket and some clark desert boots for the class. You think the clark boots will be sufficient?

i plan on getting the whole shabang of gear before buying a 250. this forum has been a big help with all my research, and i look forward to joining your community. Thanks!

-Mark

Be super careful with built! There are some horror stories from them, they kinda suck. You should be ok for the class, you really wont be going that fast

When you do get a bike let us know, I have a pair of M Knox handroids that you can barrow (Crashed in them at like 60mph, but there still good lol) till you get a decent set of gloves

Welcome to the forums!! Another local guy... sweet!! We have a pretty good group from the SoCal area that get together on a pretty frequent basis. Even before you get your bike if you happen to see a get together forming you should stop by to meet the group and check out the bikes... trust me it's worth it!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'll be sure to make an appearance at a meet in the near future As long as the class goes well. To be honest, I'm starting to get cold feet from reading the "!@#!@#!@ i crashed" section.

I'm kind of also sad i picked up the Bilt gloves, it was an impluse buy. I was super excited that I signed up for the MSF course, and immediately drove to cycle gear and bought the first pair of gloves that fit well. I'll pick up some real gear soon

are there any socal shops you all recommend to pick up gear down here? i want to go and try on a bunch of helmets this weekend

Cycle gear is still a good one too, they have lots of good gear, just not built You can return the built gloves too! They have such a good return policy

Once you pass your MSF class, you'll be able to get a one time 15% discount from cyclegear too. So make it count and buy all the gears you'll need in one shot if you can afford to do so.

I saved about a hundred dollars with the discount, it was awesome!

Depends the time of year, I did mine Oct of '10 and it was raining the entire weekend. Only 12 people

also, don't forget to add yourself to the map!

Riding is easy and the MSF teaches it in a fantastic step-by-step way. You'll pick it up quickly just be confident in yourself.

Thanks for all the tips everyone! I passed!

I got minus 3 points for going outside the box on the figure 8, that was seriously the toughest part. Everything else was stress free.
