Saddle bags

Has anyone gotten some saddle bags for their bike?

NewEnough recommends the Nelson-Riggs bags.

How do the cortech stand up to rain? Are they anywhere close to waterproof?

Each cortech bag comes with a rain cover. I've never had a problem with the bags in the rain with the covers on.

I got FirstGear Silverstone saddle bags (to match my FirstGear Silverstone tank bag). I lived out of them for a week. They've got solid capacity and fit the bike great.

I do think that I saw the fieldshier bags for half off at motorcycle superstore in one of the weekend e-mails

anyone had any problems with the saddle bags causing scratches or dulling the paint where they come in contact with the bike. Our bikes are oddly shaped in the back. I found mine did a little after a long ride. They are on pretty tight.

no problems with mine - the cortech bags have a nice neoprene piece that goes along the contact points and keeps that from happening
