700$ Ninja

Picked this bike up real cheap because it hadn't run in 2 years. 14k miles on it. Other than a few scratches and being covered in dust, it seemed to be in great condition.

Drained the old gas and put in new gas treated with seafoam. It started but ran terrible and then died. Cleaned the carbs, adjusted valves, synced carbs, and the bike fired right up and seems to run great. Took it for a short 10 minute ride today and had a blast (once i walked it out of my icy neighborhood).

Now it will be going into hibernation for the next month or two till the roads clear up.

Total cost to get this bike running was 1 can of seafoam, and 2 cans of carb cleaner.

drain the gas from the carbs and tank before you leave it sit or treat the gas so you wont have to clean everything out again when you want to ride it in the summer

Nice deal and looks to be in pretty good shape.

Are those the genuine KIA flushmounts I see, those are getting hard to find.

Also if you have some extra cash spend it on some new tires. The stockers were referred to as DunRocks for a reason.

Thanks everyone. I didn't know the turn signals were anything special. I thought thats what they all had.

Tires are definately on the to do list as well as a new chain. This one has a lot of tight spots.

Hope to get a lot of miles out of this bike.

Auto parts stores or even Walmart have it here. I remember Canadian availability being a problem. Berryman's B12 is similar and cheaper.

Sounds like a steal to me! Congrats. I want a bike like that and am considering getting a pregen because they are cheaper. As much as I want that 08+ body though....

Honestly, the biggest gripe I have with the pregen is the lack of tire choices. We're pretty much stuck with 16" bias-ply tires. I really wish I could get some of those Pirelli Diablo Rosso II's or Bridgestone BT003's on my bike but I can't

Everything else (suspension, jetting, brakes, etc) is easily remedied. The tires are tricky because if you want better tires, you have to do some parts swapping with the new bike, which can get expensive quickly.

I might be buying a pregen '03 that needs new tires. What should I get? I don't want to spend THAT much.

Depends on how much you want to spend, I'm sure the FAQ has tire recommendations in it. Otherwise Pirelli Sport Demons F 100/90-16, R 130/90-16 and then Bridgestone BT-45, Avon RoadRiders, Kenda K671. My favorites are the Pirelli's and the Kendas.

^This.
I've used dunrocks, BT45's, and Diablo scooters. The BT45's were nice and felt great. The Diablos are my favorite though, just because they're in the stock sizes and they're still sticky. Can't go wrong with Sport Demons from what I've read.

Update:

I've put 2500 miles on the bike with 0 mechanical issues. This weekend I took a 500 mile camping trip loaded with probably 100lbs of gear and the bike didn't miss a beat, even driving down a few miles of muddy camp roads after a storm.

People who say bikes arnt cheap just arnt doing it right.

A clean looking ride. Congrats

I chose the pre-gen for the 16 inch hoops which keeps it low for shorter riders. (my wife)
I will be spooning a set of pirelli diablo's on my wife's ride as well. I really like the pirelli sport demons on my lil ninja 500. 17" hoops but that would be too tall for her.

just saying, the OD of the tires for the pregen and newgen are within about 1/4" of each other. I did the math last year for a discussion with CZroe, but forget where the post is.

OD of rim =/= OD of tire. Tires have sidewalls that contribute to overall height.
