hi from vermont

hello to all from vermont.

2 years ago i decided to get a bike and learn. had never ridden, or thought of riding before. found a 2003 250r on craigslist. got the bike home, and my girlfriend immediately assumed ownership! i only had $800 to my name after the purchase, so i found an 1982 suzuki gs650G shaftie, which became my bike. it took me 2 years of fixing that to get it into inspectable condition, but the zook is now my baby. but the ninja is my first, and you never forget your first.

my girlfriend and i have each put in about 6-7K miles now...still newbies, but not so bad anymore. i remember the first time i took my girl to a big parking lot for the first time....standing next to the bike, it tipped and fell on her...i ran over to see if any damage was done to the bike, and never asked if she was ok.

and so, i join you folks....the 250r has 8500 miles on it, and i have never done any service to it. i just put the bike in the barn, and hope to learn how to do the valve adjustment and carb sync. hopefully you guys can steer me along when i get around to it. i am not mechanically inclined, but willing to learn.

Sounds like you've got the right lady.

Hope you put stabilizer in the fuel before you put the bike in the barn.

thanks for the welcome.

yup, seafoam and stabil both in the tank, ran it through the carbs for a bit under load and at idle, to get the gas into the pilot circuit.

planned maintenance:

swap out both tires
valve clearance
carb sync
air filter
coolant check
brake pad check
lube all cables and the chain
battery on a tender

what else?

You must have a VERY understanding lady. My wife would have killed me if I did that.

Welcome to the unending passion of riding.
