I'm also a fan of the sidi boots from what I've been looking at. Are they comfortable? I was impressed they actually had a impressive boot in ladies:

so there's a lotta cool gear here shown in the thread, but how many of you work in an office environment? Currently i find myself bringing a clean pair of slacks to work with me in a backpack, i keep shoes in my cube, and change when i get to work. Is there any gear out there that could be worn in an office environment and look acceptable? I dont dress shirt and tie, but i can't look moto either. Howabout motorcycle boots that look like sketchers or something? i know teknic had something like that once but it's since then off the site. What about khaki riding pants? any ideas?

A few of us from our office just wear our casual outfits underneath our gear. I also keep a pair a sneakers at my desk. On the super hot days i will put a pair of shorts and thin shirt in my back pack or tank bag for my ride home.

That's the reason I use the Aerostich one piece suit. Wear your regular clothes under it, remove the suit when you get to work and you're already dressed.

Depending on how formal your office is, you might need to keep a pair of dress shoes at work and change from your riding boots. I wore a touring type of boot and they were acceptable for my work environment.

I love my Sidi boots. Hard to break them in but once you do they fit like a glove and are very comfy. Much harder than breaking in a jacket or pants. I've had them for like 4-5 years. They've saved my ankles and feet countless times.

Those are the exact shoes i use now. I made a mistake, something like the Teknic Freestyle Boot is what im looking for. I should have bought these when i had the chance i'm so pissed i waited and now they're NLA! I know icon made a similar style boot, but i heard it was difficult to fit them between the peg and shifter on our small bikes because of the oversized sole.

Just ordered some Alpinestars Alloy leather gloves to replace my old Cortechs which got torn up last week in my minor accident:

Got them for only $60 using my $20 off $75 cyclegear.com coupon that I got in the mail. In case it still works and others want to try it, the code coupon code is 469414 and the source code is 10SPG4H8EA. You may need to place your order over the phone for it to work because when I tried online it would only give me $5 for some reason. It says it is valid till 5/31/10.

Seems like some of you guys have very expensive gear with lots of protection; and textile mesh gloves with nearly no protection. Kind of odd considering your hands will hit the ground in about 99.9% of accidents. I learned this the hard way.

Icon has a new carbon fiber helmet. Kinda expensive but looks great!!! I want the white one but the black one would look great with all of the Icon gear!!! I have become a big fan of Icon after having Joe Rocket gear. I like Icon better!

I would post a link but the site is down right now. I'll post one later.

To answer your question

I got a steal on the FS-15 Carbon at less than 1/2 price. I have found it to be a GREAT helmet and it actually won webbikeworld helmet of the year in 2008. The deal was too good to pass up.
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motor...met/hjc/fs-15/

I could not find the Icon Carbon for less than $515. As much as I like Icon, thats a big difference and I could not justify it now or anytime in the near future.

That being said, I have spent countless hours drooling over that Icon Carbon helmet in black. If I were a rich man, it would be mine.

Yeah I have been drooling over it too!!! I wear mostly Icon gear (still need an Icon helmet and I got a steal for the Alpinestars boots) but my jacket and gloves are white. I have a thing for white gear and I want a white bike someday.

I've just added these sexy Icon Bombshell boots to my collection. They were on sale for $151.99 CDN at my local dealership. I couldn't leave them there knowing that motorcycle superstore was selling them for $170 USD and been wanted them for quite a while.

For anyone wanting these boots in Canada, i found them at Royaldistributing.com for $157.57 Size 6-10 product # M16-9304. They are situated in Ontario. I found them in the 2010 Motorcycle season preview catalogue. If you do buy these i would recommend you get a 0.5 size bigger but i was told they do stretch in time unless you like a real snug fit.

I went on a shopping spree today. Even though my class (and eventual purchase of a bike) is still a week away, I went ahead and bought all my gear.
Listy:
  1. Scorpion Exo-400 'Urban Destroyer'
  2. Joe Rocket 'Reactor 2.0' Leather/Textile Jacket
  3. Joe Rocket 'Rocket Jeans'
  4. Alpinestars One-O-One Boots
  5. Olympia 452 Perforated 'Full Throttle' gloves
  6. And a massive pack of Hearos earplugs, thanks entirely to this thread.

Anyone notice anything I'm missing?
(Besides, you know, a motorcycle?)

Might consider some strap-on armor for your knees/shins (I use Icon Field Armor) . It'd suck for your jeans to twist and pull the armor out of alignment (assuming you got the optional stuff in the knees) in a crash. You wanna keep your knees. They're important.

Props for being essentially prepared even before you've got your bike!

New kangaroo gloves.

Cycle Gear had two types of gloves in red long wrist to match my getup in their shop.
A* w/ carbon knuckle and the Frank Thomas Xti 'roos.

I felt like the roo's were thicker, lighter and offered more protection.

They feel like snow gloves when riding. Very thick.
Dig the Kevlar stitching.
Also they vent if you open your fingers, don't vent if you keep them closed. Thought that was kinda trick. The linked pinky is a trip too. Good thing I retaught myself how to brake/clutch with two fingers already before I bought these! lol

Not bad for $80. No problems to report yet other than I had to get xxl to fit my hands.

Short fall from the titanium Dainese gloves I wanted but have to compromise on something.

I've updated my collection of gear lately.
I had Alpinestars Urban DNS pants and I really loved the look and fit of them but I crashed and ripped right through them before they even came out with the armor for them.

I just got Rev-It Turbine pants. My main beef with these is that they ride pretty high up to your belly button. For a skinny guy this is bad, you don't have any gut to keep it from rising up to your chest when you're tucked in on the bike. I'm keeping them for now though just because they have excellent protection. I might need to get something else though because I just can't get myself to put these on for quick runs down the street like I could with my Alpinestars. Also, I ordered the tallest, skinniest size available and it's still not long enough at the ankle and too wide at the waist. Srsly?

I also have the Scoripion All-In Leather jacket.
I like this jacket because it has quite thick leather that really feels like it will offer some protection. The pads in the elbows and shoulders are thick too. The problem with this jacket is it's either made for body builders with massive bulging biceps or just for obese motorcyclists.

Yesterday I ordered both a small and a medium Scorpion Cool Rod mesh jacket. I really needed mesh because it's already starting to get pretty hot and the leather ain't workin for me anymore. Suprisingly enough the small actually fit me better than the medium. It was like they both had the same arm length but with different gut sizes. I haven't ridden with this jacket but for a quick trip around the block. My only -1 against it so far is the collar. It just feels very loose and odd. Not really bad, just odd. I could maybe live with some more padding on top of the shoulders though.

So you refuse to buy any Icon product based off the fact that you believe a motorcycle boot design is not practical for riding motorcycles.

I think the reason is ICON is more fashion than function most of the time, especially when it come to female gear. Boots like this with your ankle so contorted where you could barely downshift or brake and the jackets that don't cover the midsection.

I haven't gotten around to leg protection yet, but here is what I have:
  1. Seven Zero Seven Vendetta Bad Betty Helmet with Iridium Multi tint visor
  2. Icon Pursuit Jacket in blue
  3. Cortech Women's HDX Leather gloves in blue
  4. Some new but really old Sidi Vertebra Race Carbon boots that my fiance found at his work... Sidi rep says that they are like 8 years old but I love em lol

Sad thing is that I got all all of this for less than his Arai helmet

I bought a couple of new helmets... A Bell Star and HJC FS-15 both are very nice and comfy. Both flow air and keep my head cool. I also got a new Joe Rocket jacket, kinda tight around the collar area, but fits good everywhere else.

Shoei RF-1000, Gold visor
Dainese Aero 1-pc suit EU40
Dainese Wave2 Back protector
Dainese Pro shorts
Alpinestars SP2 Gloves
Alpinestars MX4 Boots
Underarmour top & bottom

All in all didn't cost me too much (~$1000 i think) and makes for a pretty nice setup, that most importantly is super comfortable!

I just added this one to my collection. It's a Teknic supervent jacket I got for $89. It's made for super hot day, you can actually see through it in a couple of unproctected parts. I felt like i was wearing hockey gear when i tried it on, felt very proctected . I love it.

I wear spectacles and have to wear prescription sunglasses and take my normal specs as well when we go out.

I've heard of people getting some window tint film from their local auto parts store and applying a strip of it to the top of the visor. Cheap and supposedly quite effective.

This isn't what I wound up doing, just passing it along. I got a second visor, light enough that I can ride after dark if I must. If I know I'm going to be out late, I usually just carry both visors.
