Soooo cold....Time for a new bike!

Last night was bitter cold for southern Ohio. -30. We just can't seem to get any decent weather this winter. I started to bundle up to go to work. It was about 11pm, because I am working graveyard shift this week. I stepped outside without zipping my jacket. BAD MISTAKE! The wind gusted right then and blew open my jacket. It was like a parachute, pulling me back. I didn't know what to do. The house was behind me. My SUV was a few feet away to the right. There was a small icy patch to my left, so I ran to it...hoping I could make it before blowing away. My feet were lifting off the ground. I kept pumping my legs. There was no other way. I finally made it to the ice. BAD MISTAKE! It turns out, this ice was slippery. I had to lay down. That's what you do when its slippery. Luckily, there was no rock salt on the driveway. That could have scraped my skin.

What I think happened was when I went in for a lean to the right the wind had pushed me left causing me to wobble. I am not so entirely sure it happened way to fast.

I've only had to deal with this ARCTIC weather for about 6 weeks. We've some ups and downs, but I've only slipped on the ice/snow/puddles 11 times this season. I haven't been able to ride for 4 months. I've put my bikes/gear on Craigslist. There is a guy looking at my 300 tomorrow. I'll let him test ride it in the snow/cold, because he's got his own helmet to stay warm. He better take my asking price or less. I need the money for a 1000. The fairings are bigger to keep you out of the wind. The engine is also a little bigger to help keep warm. Every little bit helps in OH.

Everything that I've learned I would say the feedback and advice from others on this forum has taught me a lot. This is not a goodbye forever I am still going to be lurking through the forums.

He's a buddy. He says he's good for the money if if he wrecks it.

I kind of hope he does, so I don't have to deal with selling it. Then I can get my CBR1000RR sooner.

Are bike dealers even open in the winter around there or were you planning to get it from the used market?

Heeeey I don't not like it. It was just that one time I told someone to buy my gloves and you said that I pee'd on them .

Now that that's been settled...

LOL. Bike dealers are always open. I think its a cruel joke they play on me.

I will probly go with a local dealer. It's easier to get matching gear that way. I did get to sit on a 2014 636 the other day. Green! I'm a big guy, so it felt small. The dealer confirmed this and said I should definitly go with the LITER. We talked about my riding. He said everyone crashes, that's how you learn. He said I was lucky to learn on such a small bike, because most of his new guys wreck the big bikes.

This sucks. I want the CBR. I can't find them in green though.

No biggie man. Just get a custom paint job and make it look like a Ninja! You'll definitely stand out and be the talk of the local Starbucks where you hang out with your bros.

I've only ever seen one green CBR that I ran into by chance on a local fun road. not only was it plasti dipped but the rider dumped it at a stop because he wasn't used to the brakes on it. The kid wasn't used to anything on it...Lines screamed squid even more than the lack of gear.

If you want a liter in green then get the baddest jap 1000 today, zx10. It's got a monster motor and handles well. That's coming from a friend that raced a cbr 1k earlier this year and switched to the zx10.

Definitly could go custom with the Plastidip. What color should I tell my ins. company I have?

I know you're making fun of Starbucks. No joke, that is where a lot of the twisty group rides begin. The coffee probably helps you stay more alert.

anything other than red since some insurance companies up the price for red vehicles, something about it making people wreck more often due to excessive speed. Being on a literbike won't help you in that argument.
