200 km/h crash

Did the motor just seize up? He was hitting redline and all of a sudden, the needle dropped.

But he did manage to keep it up for a long time and shed off a lot of speed before he went down.

yup that's a seized motor alright, max revs for extended periods of time blew the engine and locked the rear. Looks like he wasn't in the right gear though, unless the bike was regeared it shouldn't be able to hit redline in 6th that quickly

I have experienced this minus the fall at the end, scary **** when you're topped out and the rear suddenly locks after the engine blows...and you know you've ****ed up

Dumb question: in a situation like that, would you be able to pull the clutch lever in and disengage the motor from the rear wheel...and just coast to a stop?

Would it have helped if he pulled in the clutch? I can't tell if he did.

It's possible the clutch could have helped but you don't know what happened inside the engine, the clutch mech and who knows what connected to it could have been ****ed as result as well

Doesn't the rule "If you locked your rear brake - keep it locked till you stop" apply here? He'd probably go highside, if rear will suddenly regain traction.. with locked rear he had a chance.

It's possible but he runs the risk of flipping the bike as traction is regained. Best to ride it out

you can regain traction with the rear as long as you are not cockeyed. It's hard to tell how far out of shape the rear actually was from the video.

He rode it out for a good ways though, pretty impressive, would think the important thing would be to just coast it out, figure hitting the front brakes would cause the rear to get way out of shape fast.

Ya cause even in straight lines locking the rear is an insta high side ... No other options ever

You guys missed the oil his engine was leaking all over the road making it slick as all hell for the rear tire to have any kind of traction.
He did a helluva job keeping it up for as long as he did though.

I haven't noticed the oil drip. But whatever he was surely lucky enough to slow down the fall.
