what gearing for my weight for highway riding.

Ok so I read up on what gearing people are running but I would like some feedback since I did not find info on rider weight.

What gearing are the 200-230lb riders doing for 70mph rides? I'm a little high on the rpms so I would like some feedback from the bigger guys.

I assume you mean sprockets? I ran a15 tooth front sprocket plenty of power for that still. ~300 pounds

I'm about 230lbs with full gear, I run +1/-2 set up, at 70mph roughly about 7.5k RPMs, at 75mph it's about 8k which is perfect for me and the power band of the bike

I used set up when I went to the north Carolina coast last year, about 700 miles in one day, no problems whatsoever.

These motors are made to rev, changing the gearing is a compromise you may gain a little here but loose a bit somewhere else. Manufactures spend a lot of time and money designing a bike that will perform well in all road conditions, unless you have just one need I would stay with the stock gearing and let it rev

Right now I'm at about 8k at 70. I would like to be around 8.5k at 75

Try changing the front sprocket to 15t, it's easy enough to do, and inexpensive too.

15T sprocket should be stick. Makes the bike much more usable in my opinion. I seen someone mention a 43T rear sprocket? Where from?

The 15 is great, provided you do a lot of highway. I hit the highway about once a week so I stick with the stock. A buddy of mine hits the highway twice a day and 15 was a great move for him.

Based on OP original question, 15T should work great for him.

In terms of my comment of 15T being stock, I make that based in several things. 250s are generally, or were, purchased by new riders, with limited or no skill. The stock 14T with standard gear ratios, I along with others here found the 1st gear mostly unusable. By moving to 15T, the bike seem slightly more stable as it isn't jerky from how quickly the RPMs rise in first gear. Also, the rider isn't as worried about quickly shifting as it changes the ideal shift points slightly. And as you mentioned, makes the bike better equipped for highway riding. I do 60% highway, so I'm well aware of the benefit, even interested a 43T rear.

I can see where a veteran rider would like the 14T as it makes the bike more peppy, just feel 15T is more universal.

That would be me, I'm running +1/-2 setup, it works nicely for me.

I put 8700 miles on my bike in its first year. I changed to 15/41. She won't pull past 93 or 95 mph but cruises all day at 70 at 7200 rpms. Took a 2700 mile trip on her great gas mileage. If I had it to do over I think 15/43 might be the best all arounder. Wardie

Weight comes into play on acceleration, deceleration and fatigue and maybe you have to add some air in your tires

I weigh around what you weigh. As a frequent Hwy rider I use 15/41 and still outpace most traffic easy. Also keep in mind that with sprocket changes it doesn't hurt to do a few small intake/performance mods. for a little extra oomph.
