Shiverring squids

So today I rode about 70 miles even though it was cold outside, 55f and 20mph winds. After a bit of being cold I just got used to it, and it even started to feel kind of nice. At one point I'm on a 4lane road going 60mph that's very cold even in full summer gear when I look over and see a rider with a passenger both wearing shorts and no helmet. His female passenger had on a long sleeve shirt but had squished her face into the middle of the riders back and pulled her entire body inwards to get out of the wind. So much so that it looked like she was barely holding on.

Later on we ended up stopped at a red light side by side. I looked over and her jaw was chattering and she was rubbing her hands together to keep them warm. I didn't even think about their safety just how cold they must have been. Much colder and it'd have been Squids on ice.

I think what we have here is a colossal squid. They are at home in cold environments like Antarctica.

The wikipedia page states:
Quote:
Many sperm whales carry scars on their backs believed to be caused by the hooks of colossal squid. Colossal squid are a major prey item for Antarctic sperm whales feeding in the Southern Ocean; 14% of the squid beaks found in the stomachs of these sperm whales are those of the colossal squid,
I think the specimen on the back of the bike might well be a sperm whale. I'm sure the squid is responsible for many scars on her back.

Furthermore the article proclaims that sperm whales feed on colossal squids. This might explain "her face into the middle of the riders back" and how "her jaw was chattering": she was in the process of devouring the squid. The "rubbing her hands together" was more likely a pre-feast gesture, to display her delight in the meal she has ahead.

Akima, you are pure genius.

I see this every day with scooter riders on campus. During the day it's fine and dandy with shorts and flip flops. But when they get out of the library at night and get on --heeheeheeheee.

I need to start a thread ripping on scooter riders.
