Review, CBR300 vs 500 vs N300 vs KTM390

pretty decent review worth a look if you are considering any of these as a new bike

I was at the bike shop just the other day. The new crb300 looks interesting. But of course, they had a sign on the bike.

"Do not sit!"

Looks better than the crb250 imho.

Honda had a cbr300 at the indy motoGP race this year. I thought it was the 600 at first. I agree it looks way better than the 250 did, especially with the red white and blue paint job. I didn't sit on it but that just because I wasn't interested.

It would have been difficult to make it uglier than the cbr250 IMO

Why the hell does Honda use single cylinder engines in these bikes?

Cheaper to manufacture, better torque a low rpm, I dunno. I got nothing against a single for the street, can't wait for the rc390.

They need to take out the 500 and add the R3 for a real competition.

The r3 is just a ninja 300 with 20 some extra cc's. Not really a game changer in my opinion.

We still know nothing about how it's chassis handles or how the suspension is tuned or the brakes, electronics, etc. Don't count it out yet. In the Yamaha I expect big things.

Chassis doesn't look like any real improvement over the n300 to me.

You know that how it looks doesn't tell you didly about how stiff or compliant or responsive or harsh a frame is. I haven't seen a decent review of it yet.

Indeed, its cheaper to make, cheaper to service, smaller, and in a lot of ways superior for an "entry level" bike. Really nothing wrong with a thumper, its just different. You have to take into context the design brief of the bike and power plant.

Cheaper.
Honda doesn't care about US sales, they design the bike for European A2 license, which controls bikes by power and weight. For Asia, they burn much less fuel.

Especially since Yamaha refuses to sell the bike with ABS in North America.
No ABS , no sale.

I had the same thoughts but I did stumble upon this over the inter webs, kind of interesting frame design.

looks like the original version R6 design-forks are 41 mm-big improvement for stability.power commander, pipe, air filter and you have a pretty decent bike.

I like the looks of this over the Ninja 300 any day. Haven't read much about it for reviews though. I like it on paper better than the RC390, hopefully the spec is better than the N300
