New Guy from Philly

Hey all, nice little community here. I don't have a bike yet, just my permit and taking the MSF soon. Don't have much to spend on a first bike but I don't want to finance a new one either.

Hopefully prices die down soon and I can get a 250 sooner or later. I'm just really excited I've always wanted a bike and now I will be actually trying to get one.

Have a lot of friends that ride and are mentoring me on what to buy, what I should pay or not..its just a seller's market now.

If you guys know good sites to get gear for decent prices that would be awesome. Of course I will need to go to a store and get measurements first.

I wear glasses so I will most likely wear them on a bike too. Can't wait to have a bike finally but I bet I would be sitting staring at one until I complete MSF to even get on it! A little nervous.

If you're buying a new bike and JUST learning how to ride... Craigslist and a mechanic to check it out before you buy it. Something cheap to learn on... That's what I did I just found a sucker who needed the money so i got my 03 250 cheap... $550.00. See if you can find cheap deals on Craigslist. BTW I'm in Delaware so when u get ur bike lemme know.

Hey welcome!

Since you're from the Philly area, check out Revzilla.com. Their showroom is in South Philly and you can try out stuff there. Their salespeople are awesome! For those that love Revzilla, if you ever go to the store you will be amazed with their help and knowledge they provide.

Hey welcome man, this is a great community with a wealth of knowledge. once you get your bike let me know, we can setup a group ride.

Good luck with your MSF (it will help you get over your nervous feeling) and good luck finding a 250.

Yeap was my room mate who i hated and she lost her job so she couldnt pay rent. I made her an offer she couldnt refuse 1 month rent for the bike.... she never ended up paying rent after that so the landlord booted to her and now we have the house to ourselves..... oh btw the bike only has 1600 miles on it loli painted it. Bought a new side plastic and added decals its my avatar to the left....

welcome welcome! i was the same way...didn't want to touch a bike until after MSF. And even then, I was scared to ride my bike out of my apartment parking lot. Then once I found out how well it handled, I said screw it, and took it on the street.

I'm in Harrisburg but I return home to the suburbs outside philly every month. Maybe I'll bump into you sometime!

Yeh that is a good idea, didn't know there was such a thread. I'm not directly in the city but in the northeast area. The boulevard looks like a pain in the ass, I will not be riding to work on 76 that is for sure.

I end up taking 76 all the time, just because it's the best way to get to a lot of places. Yep....it sucks, you just get used to it.
