free video editing software?

What are people using and what do you recommend?

I recently got a Mobius Actioncam and finally got a chance to play with it and record some things, but now i need to process it and was curious what people suggest to get it done?

This link here seems to be a pretty good list right away. I have some experience with Virtual Dub and I agree with their snapshot entirely, it feels old and basic but it does great work with AVI files. Not to mention the compression is AMAZING. It is entirely possible to reduce file sizes to 1/10th of their original size while maintaining excellent quality.

Lightworks after checking out some videos does actually look really cool, but from the videos alone I agree does look extremely complicated. If you have the patience I'd give that one a try. Personally I'll be downloading that one too if I ever use Windows 7 again.

I use Openshot on Ubuntu with decent results, however the program does crash fairly regularly.

There are a lot of free editors but the one I like the most is the free one for the gopro software. Free off their site and you don't have to have a gopro to use it. Personally, I have premiere pro, I've worked with FCP and Avid, so I don't really use the gopro software that much but you can import, edit, add music, effects ect

Hope that helped

What is the update Joe?

I have went from; Windows movie maker -> sony vegas -> adobe premiere. While windows movie maker was the only free one in my list, I enjoy making quality vids.

How have you fared after making a few?

I haven't gotten around to editing anything unfortunately. Maybe over winter I will have time to sit and process some of the video I have. Recording the video is the easy part... going through it and editing it... not as much lol

I plan on getting some dirt riding clips this weekend around my old stomping ground, It will definitely be something I want to edit together in the end. Pretty cool riding place.
