New rider from the Bay Area

Hey everyone. nice to meet you all. I just started riding mid July this year, and am getting quite addicted to it. I picked up a 2002 EX250 w/ EFI installed. It's been a blast. Any others around here from the Bay Area?

Is that group ride going to kill my ass? lol.

I guess I rode from Tuolumne Meadows to Livermore non stop, so it can't be any worse than that right?

Shouldn't be too bad, besides the pregen seat is more comfy than the newgens so you'll be better off than me

Does your bike have O2 sensors? Wideband or narrowband? Can you tune it yourself?

I just realized I have work that day
Usually that wouldn't be an issue, but I just started a new job, and won't call in sick before I've even worked there a week.

It has 2 O2 sensors. No AFM gauge of any kind, but there's a serial port under the seat to hook it up to my laptop with the tuning software. I haven't had time to mess with that though, as I use it mostly for commuting, and is running fine. Getting about 65 mpg average, though it's ranged from 52 - 73 before.

Awesome me too. I bought a 07' 250r sometime in May. Rode dirt bikes for a bit then went on and got a 250r. Been loving it since I have had it.

Does anyone know how to work on these? I realize the decel cable is not connected, as well as needing help adjusting fuel mapping.

Cool! You realize you have a self tuning EFI kit that will always be perfectly tuned to an AFR of 14.7 no matter the elevation or temperature right? It also has a rich mode that you can customize yourself for maximum power. So when that ricer pulls up and revs his fart can at you, you just flip it to rich mode and beat his ass, then when you are done you flip it back to eco mode and get maximum MPGs.

I'm getting an AFR gauge soon, if you want we can dick around with the rich mode and try and perfect the bike for max power

Also, if you have an android phone then even better. This is from Matt, owner of ecotrons

Subject: Ecotrons' new ProCAL software can run on an Android phone now!

Hello, Everyone,

Logging data with a laptop on back is certainly not convenient. That's why we come up with this Android based ProCAL, thanks to the open system of Android.

For those who want to log some data during riding, it is a handy feature on your Android phone. Sorry not working on the i-Phone yet.

The only thing you will need is to buy a RS232-BlueTooth converter, and plug it into the ECU harness side. Your Android phone can detect it.

for this initial release, only logging feature is available. In the near future, we will make it capable of tuning on the fly.

This software will be downloadable soon on our website.

Let me know if you want this software to play with sooner.

thanks,
Matt
It's a cool system and I'll be getting one probably next year. Check out some of the ecotrons threads if you want to learn more

I do have an android phone, so that's cool.

I wonder why I was having all those issues at high elevation then if it is supposed to be self adjusting.

I alos need to figure out how to hook up the decel cable. I have the instructions here on how to do that, but if anyone has experience with any of this, I would love to meet up with you. San Jose is close!!

Unfortunately the other San Jose guy with this kit has temporarily relocated to New York (he left his bike behind though, we can go steal it)

There has been improvements with the kit. I think you have the previous model TB which had an issue with the decel cable, I think some people bought longer 650 cables to fix it. Email Matt or go ask in the ecotrons help thread, they will both be happy to help you.

Yeah I asked in there as well. I know the decel cable isn't mandatory, but idk if the previous owner left it disconnected due to laziness or necessity (due to cable length)
