What's the coldest ride you've done?
I just did an hour and a half freeway ride in 21-27 degree dry weather.

-3 for about an hour on I71 and it sucked, I am pretty sure I had hypothermia set in pretty well. I was not properly geared for those temps.

Seriously. I had heated gloves, which kept the cold at bay. But I've been at work for an hour; and still chilled to the bone. I hate to imagine what you felt like.

It doesn't really drop below 50 degs here. Except in the middle of January at 2 AM. So....

That's because you live in 'merica. We don't use those crappy other measurements. That's why we use yards and not meters. Excuse me, metres.

24 yesterday morning. Celsius sounds like something to cover your left-over dinner. |

I'll give ya the metric system for most things as that does make more sense rather than the say odd 5280 ft per mile, but I can't see how Celsius is better. To me it seems that the range isn't enough to cover the difference in temps.
F 20* = -6.67* C F 25* = -3.89* C F 30* = -1.11* C F 32* = 0* C F 35* = 1.67* C F 40* = 4.44* C F 45* = 7.22* C F 50* = 10* C

I fixed the temp ranges, and carried over the few existing votes that had to move.

Whoops, never answered the question.
Did about an hour 60MPH ride in 19F dry weather, got to a Subway and just ordered all their soup. Been trying to ride in the high 20's but with the windchill at freeway speeds, my legs and toes just can't handle it. Need heated socks.

Just did -4C (25F) 1 hour commute this morning. I'm geared pretty well except for gloves. I have heated grips but I wear summer gloves. I tried putting tape over the finger vents but it didn't help significantly. Maybe it's time for some hippo hands.

-18F degrees in Menominee Michigan, right on the edge of the Great Lakes in the middle of January.....yeah, it was COLD.
Rode a Honda from my friends house, up over the bridge next to the Coast Guard station, to the mall on the other side. I'm guessing it was about 5 miles or so. |

In 1973 I rode from Peekskill NY to Manhattan...only maybe 50 miles, only just under 40 degrees but I did it in a denim jacket and denim pants...without question the coldest I've ever been in my life. Hey, I was young.
2 years ago I ran from NY to Philly and back....close to 300 miles...to get some pretzels. Day started at 32...ended at 36 but I had electric gloves, sno mo suit and 2 sweaters so it wanst difficult at all. Wind chill froze the pretzels solid. It was fun. |

Oddly enough, the coldest I've ever felt wasn't during the -18F ride in Michigan....it was on a 32F day in Middle Georgia. I was in jeans and a jacket, and it poured rain on me, soaked me to the bone and I still had 15 miles to go. Nearly froze to death on that ride.

It took over 24 hours to get the total feeling back in my fingers among other soreness. Let's just say I had better days and was glad I had an electric blanket.

I wish I could, but 32°F / 0°C / 492 °R / 273 K is all the cold we have in South Florida. Humidity and wind may make it feel a little lower during those "extremely cold" morning commutes, but it is still almost pleasant. Tropical thunderstorms are the worst climate condition down here.

Agreed. Absolute zero is by definition absolute. So, absolutely the only true temperature scale we all must use. If you refuse Kelvin, you can't be helped.
Based on this absolute certainty, I give you my submission: The lowest temp I have ever motorcycled in was, and is, 276 degrees. Unfortunately, I cannot and will not vote as you refuse to use The Scale (Kelvin). |

I've done a few coommutes where it's been around -10C (14 to the yanks), coldest I've done was across the country in -2C, bike on the throttle stop for most of it indicated 108,mph GPS on my phone said average moving speed was 95 mph. Calculated that the windchill brought it down to -17C (1 f).

Coldest I have ridden has been in the mid 20's mostly which was in Clovis NM. Now that I have relocated to southern GA I am not worried about the cold anymore.
