Coming in from Provo, UT
Hey guys! Just got a 2004 Ninja 250 and am loving it! I'm curious to know what maintenance I can do on it myself and what I need to take to a mechanic/specialist. Bike is ~ 14K miles and still rides well (so far as I know). Additionally, the frame was cut by the previous owner to install the cowl that it has now. Any suggestions on installing a flat seat so I can take 2?

Welcome, that looks like the now discontinued blue collar bobber kit.

You can do all maintenance yourself if you want to, and if you don't mind reading the shop manual. If the valves haven't been adjusted at the specified intervals, or if you don't know the history of the valve adjustments, it's definitely time to check them and adjust if needed. Information about it is at this how-to, under "engine" https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Ninja250_Howto
Sorry, I can't help with your seat question. |

Since most of that kit is bolted on, I would think you would have to lose the rear cowl and then mount a new tail light under your new flat seat.
