Talking Northern VA checking in! Questions about Ninjette for taller/heavier folks.

Hey gang... my name's Mitch. I live in Northern Virginia and I own a 2009 Buell 1125CR. It has ~146hp and is a fun beast, but I'm looking for something more suited to basic commuting. I've always loved the 250, and I got wicked happy in 2008 when the new 250R came out, but I am not sure I am the right "fit".

I tried using search already, but couldn't find any related threads, so that's why I joined up to ask. I'm 6'3" and 225 lbs. I remember sitting on a "Ninjette" (love the name, btw) at a dealership and it felt way too small, as my knees sat above the gas tank. Now I'm not 6'10" or 350 lbs or anything... I'd LOVE to make the Ninja 250R work for me. Are there things taller riders can do to make the 250R more comfortable?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

- Mitch

Have you done anything to make it more comfortable? Do you also experience the "knees-over-the-tank" syndrome?

6' with longer legs and heavier than I should be. Didn't have a single problem "fitting" on the ninjette. Adjusted the preload in the rear for my weight. If you need help fitting on the bike, you can get adjustable rearsets.

Man you are killing me. I had a 1125CR and I bought my wife's ninjette. I had to sell the CR when I lost my job.

I'm 6' and 230. I used a set of aftermarket solid pegs and move my feet all the way back to my toes. That works for me. There is a discussion in the New Gen forum about tall riders HERE. I am going to get a set of the XB lowering pegs for a little more room.

Good luck and I am seriously jealous!

BTW: does your CR burn your right inner leg and have a bad charging system?

I'm 6'2" and 220lbs. I added Woodcraft Clip-ons and Bohemian Racing Rearsets... it definitely helps... I've ridden the bike for 2 1/2 years and about 12K miles... it's definitely doable

Thanks all for your replies! I'm selling my 1125CR tomorrow hopefully (if buyer doesn't back out last minute).

Any fitment issues on the new 300?? Now that it's out I'm not considering getting a 250R.

I'm 6'2'' and about 210 lbs and I haven't had any issues with fit. Also since all of the VA riders have chimed in, I still have a home in Lynchburg does that count?

Welcome

I've heard of shorter riders lowering their bike with lowering links, I wonder if they sell "raising links" or something similar that you could install? :P
