Rear tire size

How big of tires can I put on the back and front of my ninja 250? I wasnt as wide as possible without affected riding or hurting the bike.

Some have put a 150 on the rear and say they feel no real difference.

Oh, you should do a search for that. There are so many threads on tires here.

General consensus from what I've been reading is to go no bigger than 110 front and 140 rear. Which is exactly what I just purchased in Bridgestone 45's. csmith12 is right that people have put a 150 on there but the tire was severely pinched.

A 150/60 on the rear will fit and a 120/60 on the front, however you will notice a slight difference in handling with the bigger tire on the front. I have a 120/70 on the front. It is the exception because the tire was designed to fit a 2.75 inch rim. I wouldn't do another 120/70 in any other tire because there is very little room under the fender and bracket.

See my review. Review: Bridgestone Battlax BT-45 140/70-17 and 120/70-17

I've had BT-016's and S20's in 150 and haven't had any complaints other than the permanent chicken strips from the pinching. I really want to try 140 Diablo Rosso II's on my next tire change, though.

The guy I bought my bike from really knew what he was doing as far as the bike as a whole on upgrades. He also went with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Tires too. They were put on the bike brand new, and I now own the bike with the same tires. I now have 5500 miles on my bike and they're still doing great and no signs of needing changed anytime soon. He put 110/70 on the front, and 140/70 on the rear. They look pretty sporty. When I'm at school and park next to other 250's I get a lot of jealous looks. I have been asked multiple times if my bike is a 300 or a 600 and I think it has a lot to do with the tires. So I would get those. I wanted to go even bigger but it sounds as if that may do more damage than good so I'll just stick with my 110' and 140's.

It has to do with most people don't know wtf their looking at. Seems they believe the bigger the tire, the faster it must go.

See now that can go either way. A co worker came up to me one day after I rode my bike in and was asking me about my bike. He said "that's the 250 right?" All I could really say was yes. Then he said, "yeah I figured. I know the 250s look like the 600 but I could tell it was the 250 because of how small the rear tire is." He rides a cbr900 I believe.

Clearly, not just any 'ol bystander. More often than not, they're uneducated and don't know anything about bikes, hence thinking the 250 is a bigger bike than it is.

Even if you had a bigger rear, your still only have 1 front rotor

I have 150/16/60 Diablo Rosso II on my 2012 Ninja 250.. I actually upgraded from the 140/17/70 Diablo because i was able to go alittle bit bigger so I wanted to see what the difference was in handling. Well the 140's are perfect for this bike.. but the 150 seems sort of stiff going around corners. But i take the highway alot and I've notice a big difference in stability while going 80-85mph. I feel more secure having a bigger rear tire but so far so good. Oh the Diablo Rosso II is harder in the middle of the tire which is great.

I heard you shouldn't go above 140 on the rear because it affects handling. You said o yourself, so I'm not sure if it's worth it for the 150. Ido a lot of turns and city driving.
