Prepared the bike for the new season, change the oil, shimmed the needles, "holed" the carburetors...

Waiting now for a nice day to try those inexpensive mods...

Installed stainless steel front brake line, changed oil, went for a nice hour long ride (after a quick test ride of course).
I gotta say the stainless steel line makes a huge difference. Highly recommended mod.

Is that a clutch lever?

I rode to work today, filled up the tires, and FINALLY confirmed that I don't have an oil leak; just chain doo doo flingin everywhere.

methinks fairing stay is tweaked. fairings aren't lining up with rest of the mounts and are rubbing paint off gas tank.

Put the big tail bag back on, and loaded it with my stuff for commuting to work.

Played around with the fuel decel cutoff value again, which didn't turn out too well. It seems that my bike will never be able to shake the slight idle hunt. Oh well. At least got that figured out kinda.

Nope. I tried idle (1500) and 15000.

1500: bike starts and instantly dies.

15000: bike will start and idle fine at first. Whatever RPM you rev it to, it will hang at. Very few times, the rpms will drop back down, but settle at 2500 - 3000, instead of 1500. It also made some really odd sounds when decelerating.

First part almost makes sense.

Second part is odd. Seems like something isn't working right. But as long as it works the way you have it, don't worry too much I guess. I've probably asked before, but does it do the hunting if you unplug your headlight?

Yes, it does the hunting without the headlight.

It usually oscillates about 5 - 20 times, and then eventually settles back from 2000 to 1500. If the variance was any more than 500rpms, I would probably want to figure this out. People just think I'm trying to race them lol.

SV Racing Parts Rear Sets, Driven Clip Ons, Driven D3 grips, integrated tail light (sequential one off eBay), and a quick ride around the block. Need to get used to the SMX Plus boots on the bike. They're super comfy, but don't feel comfortable shifting with the rear sets. Then again, could be my current settings. Need to play around with that till I get something that feels right. Same goes for the Clip Ons. Love the new "stance" I have on the bike though.

Once this thing is prettied up a bit I'll take some clean shots of lilninja. Need to prep & paint left fairing and nose cowl. Right fairing is on it's way.

"THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE FREEWAY" she says in her head before performing the most epic jump into a pile of leaves.

Today me and little Zero were invited for a twisty ride without the host knowing that it was my first. Not a beginner road.

In the coming days there will surely be endless frustration with epoxy, abs cement and a patient and loving boyfriend to feed me chocolate while I hit things with rubber mallets and make a general ruckus.
No mechanical damage though. B)

NEVER ride beyond your limits, no matter what... A member of this forum(Tim?) did just that and paid for it with his life... You don't want that to be you. Good luck and glad you're ok.

Where did you go?

If you're ever in the south bay theres some easy peasy twisty routes

Day trip

My friend and I rode 2up to the dealer to pick her bike up from the shop since at times her engine dies during certain random instances. Anyway, we rode about 8 miles to the dealership and have one of the mechanics ride with us around town to further find out what was wrong since there was nothing that indicating any problem.

We decided to go to the Summit Rd in South Mountain in PHX, AZ. Simple 6 mile twisties and an excellent view. Do there we were 2 ninjettes and 1 versys (mechanic) riding as a group . Since there was traffic en route to the twisties, people who have their windows down asked about our bikes and if we were in a bike club [lol]. For those who haven't been up there, do try it all the way to Telegraph pass rd [Towards the radio towers].

As we returned to the dealership, everything turns out that the bike was fine and we headed to a coffee shop. The funny thing was right when we were heading home, her bike died out again. We pulled over and finally found out why it does that. Good thing it was simply a choke usage problem [or lack off].

So as of today, I popped my 2up and group riding cherry

Lubed my chain with Motul Factory Line chain lube. Goes on milky white with minimal fling off. Will continue to lube up both bikes with it and see if I prefer the Motul or Dupont Chain Saver.

Been using for two weeks now and it seems to work good from what I can tell but I haven't had the chance to get in there a clean everything real good to test its fling factor.

Why'd you go factory line instead of the road sport version?

It was the same price as the Road version ($7.99) and I wanted something that was not colorless so I could see if the lube adheres to the chain or flings off. I'm sort of stuck on the Motul Kool-Aid when it comes to their products recently.

I re-installed the air box. I can't wait to get back to quiet(er) performance

Also, I reflashed my ecu, but I think I'm having the same compatibility issue with an older ecu that Rick and Byron were having. hhhmmmmm...

I'll get it all pieced back together tomorrow.

Beautiful!! Was that on my 12.9 AFR and 41 degree timing? You beat n4mwd and now we have proof that my numbers work better than his.

PS: email me the .s19 file that works with our older ecu's. You know my email. Pretty please with cherries on top.

PPS: don't send it in a .rar compressed folder. I can't figure out how to un-compress those for some reason...

So..... How do you reflash your ecu and how do you get the correct map to put on it?

I found a link of someone who's done it...

It's an aftermarket EFI system. It's not the oem parts.

I just plug it into my computer and use the supplied program to make all the changes I want to fuel, ignition, etc.

Cool... I did find some people who will re flash your stock ECU but all charge 400$+... Not sure I want to spend so much after I'm already so invested with my PCV and Autotune setup. I'm hoping using the map Akima's gonna let me have will help.
