I miss the **** out of riding already :(

Anyone else store they're bike for the year? Since I'm off at Kent I won't be able to ride much this october and I didn't want to pay another $170 for insurance for the month, so I winterized the Gixxer and took her home for the winter. I'm so used to riding 5 days out of the week and I put over 10k miles between the 250 and the 750 this season. IDK WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE AHHHHHHHHHH I'm already planning Christmas gifts and anniversary gifts for the bike haha (Passenger peg turn signals, new brake pads, new ss brake lines, and a new front tire). All I can do at this point is plan out my track day next spring and watch youtube videos and moto gp. Someone help me!

I'm not scared of riding in the rain, but I chose to avoid it if possible, just makes it more dangerous and miserable.

I personally love riding and will ride rain/shine until the snow comes but everyone is different. Also not sure about owning a bike that you can't 100% afford but that's personal stuffs so I won't go there. Not trying to troll, just doesn't really make sense to me but guess whatever works for you man. Maybe watch some motovloggers? That's how I dealt with wanting to ride before I got my bike.

I never said I couldn't afford the bike?? I said that I had some other bills due this month so I canceled the insurance because I wasn't going to be able to ride the bike much and I could use the money for other stuff.

1) I hate riding in the rain and cold with a passion. I don't blame you.

2) I'm 2+ hours away from my bike from August-May, so it gets winterized early and long. I feel ya.

3)forget the SS lines, it doesn't really need SS lines do 2 track days and a full set of tires instead, and I'll go to one with you. We're so going go to Mid-Ohio. We'll bum a day there with csmith12 and we'll have a grand time. You're going to want to be on brand new rubber anyways. The track is the hardest you'll ever ride; trust me.

4)It sucks. I feel your pain. Just be glad you've actually been riding for the last month, and you're still in our happy little NE Ohio area. I'm stuck in NW Ohio in freaking farm land with nothing but flat straight roads and wind.

I quite enjoy riding in the rain. I throw on some water proof liners over my clothes and flip on the heated grips. People think I'm crazy for rising in the rain, I think they are crazy for not doing it

For one it's all water proof. Second, my hands are separated from the heating element by rubber grips. Third, its only 12 volts at 3 amps, that would feel good

I am SO down for a track day next spring. I've been looking into a set of tires and a deal on a one-piece suit and some better gauntlet gloves. I tried to go this fall but I had no transportation to tow the bike. Civic = no towing

My dad has a Sierra I'm allowed to use. I don't have cargo hooks in the middle of the bed, so I can only carry one bike in the bed, but we do have a trailer hitch. A Uhaul wouldn't be a big deal for me to tow at all.

Also, if I were you I wouldn't cancelled the insurance, just lowered it. What are you going to do if it gets stolen or vandalized?

@Jiggles I only kept liability and comprehensive in case of just that. @choneofakind AWESOME dude. sounds like a plan!!!! Btw, its uncovered and we could be able to fit both bikes on it, me and my dad would put both our dirtbikes on it when we traveled and we could put other stuff in your truckbed.

WOOP WOOP, time to start saving up for trackday preparations. I has dilemma though. This tire is brand new http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...Rear-Tire.aspx and was on my bike when I got it. Still 90% tread. I have a Michelin pilot on the front and it is bald, needs changed at the start of the season. I don't know if I have the cash for a new front and back for the track, you think I can get away with the shinko, and a good new front tire when we go?

I would love Rosso II's but I can't just get rid of this brand new rear tire.

Ask @csmith12. He rides the big boy bike and knows more about when to get a new tire than I do. You're likely just fine, but definitely change that front.

I went on 2 new tires. I think mine are fine for another track day if we get out there early in my season, but idk haha. They feel better than my last pair did when I got rid of them, so I'm likely fine.

Well well....

You know how to find the wear bars right? If you have rubber above the bars, I can get you on the track.

FYI, you can get a killer set of take offs for cheap ($100 most likely) and have them mounted. Lemme know the sizes and I can get you hooked up if you wanna go that route.

My recommendation is;
Run take offs for the track day. A good set of will last you a couple of days at least, then remount your street skins.

Let me know the size and I might be able to get you a street front to match your current rear. Used for around $50.

So that is 3 tires for the price of 1.

@csmith12 that sounds great, I'll take you up on that around spring. So you could get me a used shinko front with most tread and what Brand are the killers?

Btw- Tire sizes are 120/70 front and 180/55ZR17 Rear

Yea, I should be able to get a 120 shinko, lemme see who has what. I suppose you need that front sooner rather than later right?

I wouldn't need the shinko for a couple more months, unless you can get me a super deal now. I'm not too worried about it because I won't be working on the bike until March (when the snow melts and the streets clear up).

You should get yourself a really cheap, reliable (Honda?) knobbly tyred (dual sport?) for winter riding! Get some good winter gear and you'll be happy as Larry riding around in the cold months of the year.
