Try the track

This last Sunday, our local track, Mid America Motorplex, held the last track day of the season. I couldn't go for the whole day but did ride out with a buddy to check it out. The track was flooded by the Missouri river for a few months so I was curious to see the state it's in. Things looked much better than I expected. The track itself looked solid but it had a "dirt" color to it. You could definitely see the line which was cleaner than the rest but hopefully a few good rains will take care of things.

There was a "try the track" session offered to street riders who wanted to see what track riding is all about so I decided to take the 250 out. It was definitely fun. Here's a couple of pics.

These were parade laps...very slow. The rider in front of me is leading the group of street riders.

Looks fun! I wanna go on a track soon, but there aren't really anywhere around where I live because of a bunch of liability issues apparently

Totally agree...that's a Ducati Paul Smart 1000 LE ridden by a very cool guy named Shun. He let me do a couple laps on it at MPH in Hastings, Nebraska. I think easily the sweetest looking bike and very fun to ride.

Love the pics!

Try the track/test the track sessions are a great way to see and ride a track for the first time. Less gear & bike requirements and sometimes they will let you run in the "novice" group if your geared up for it.

And the prices.... During last track day, they had a $35 per day "test the track" group of 2. So they let em run in novice. Great bang for their buck and they did just fine. I want $35 track days!

Great looking form pjed! And are you off the line in the second pic? Looks like your gunna have to really flick hard and fast to make that corner.

Hey Chris, totally off line in the second pic...lol. These were very slow parade laps and the track was very dirty in spots from the flood. On an actual track day on my 600, I try to skim my puck on the inside stripes.

Sorry, I have only seen 1 test the track group and a slow parade lap was at 55-65mph on a clean track.

Still cool though.
