Chasing a ZX-6R at MSRH

Took my 2012 250R to the track this weekend to see if I could catch any big bikes. Here's a clip of me catching a Ninja 636. I was closing on him for about 2 laps prior to the start of this clip.

That's Level 2. I rode mostly L2 this weekend, except for the last couple sessions each day where I rode with my buddy in L1.

Was it that grey one? I'm in L1, but I'm pretty sure I watched you a couple laps.

It's the red and black scheme and had the headlight taped over with black tape.

You mean like Loudon, Pocono, Summit Point, and New Jersey Motorsports Park? There used to be a great track out on the Island (Bridgehampton). Thompson or Stafford Springs in CT. is "supposed" to be making a road course.

Yeah that's me - I rode the last couple of sessions each day in Level 1 to ride with a friend from Austin, so that's probably why you didn't see me out there more. I found my best video lap and it's just under a 2:05 as best I can tell from the timestamps:

Nice riding Zach. Looks like on a 250 you only have to slow down for two or three corners. I noticed red Xs on the track. Is that where riders have gone down?

Turn in points yo! Sadly, they are mostly marked for 600's and above but 250 riders can use em too. Most of the time they denote the race line too.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the X's are for turn-in points, and most of the corners have X's at the apex and some on the track-out too. The 250 doesn't have to slow down for hardly any of those turns, it's true. There's definitely more speed I could carry through Diamond's Edge, and I think I could tip it into Carousel (the long left sweeper) without cutting the throttle at all, but I'll have to work on that next time!

You only have to brake for Sugar and Spice (Turn 16&17) and Diamond's Edge.

Well, you're braver than I am then - I definitely have to take some speed off for Launch/Keyhole!

I guess but pushing a lot of speed caused me to go ride a few times

Ill have to plan on making it out to MSRH. I haven't been there. I hear the 250 isn't that great on it, more suited for bigger bikes. I will try and make it next year so I can ride with fellow ninjetters. You guys need to make it up to MSRC 1.3. The 250 owns on that little track.

Next year I will be up to speed for sure, I will have gotten rid of the BT0016's and have my set of 120/140 soft race/rs BT003's on, and emulators and stainless lines installed. Hopefully I will be down weight as well. Looking to lose another 30 lbs, lost 20 already, so that I am not just a big fatt out there and you skinny guys are killing me. Maybe I can make it a weekend trip and camp out with you guys.

Anyways, love seeing 250r's at ridesmart events.

Yeah the 1.3 is great - I went there with RideSmart a couple of months ago and rode my Street Triple. That was a lot of bike for the little track, and I bet the 250 would be nearly as fast.

MSRH is definitely on the big side for the 250; that back straight feels like it's 5 miles long when liter bikes are flying by at +50mph.

Its ok, Zack, you still spanked me. I remember your outside pass in the keyhole very well.
