Unhappy Big rack or pillion racks?

I need a rear rack. I just bought my bike 3 days ago. Toyed with taking it today for my first commute to work (what I bought it for), then realized I can't carry my Laptop on it...grrrrr 18.5" screen beastly big laptop. From what I see the Ventura Pack-a-Rack is my only option. I also have a tool bag that is like another big laptop case. I could maybe strap them both to the pack-a-rack. I don't think side luggage is big enough. HP DV8T laptop and a small tool bag. I've got a backpack for the laptop. But then I still need a rack for tools. I'm a computer network geek at a bank.

These may or may not appeal to you... I wanted to be able to carry/store items on my bike so I added a trunk and sidecases...

Trunk mounted to a rear seat pan, THREAD HERE

AND

Mounted Givi sidecases, THREAD HERE.

Pic with both installed:

Any questions or measurements needed hit me up.

This is a nice rack available through twistedthrottle.com . There's a larger plate that screws on available to enlarge it. There's also a bag available that's a perfect fit to the large plate.

Not to crash the party guys, but the OP may have solved his problem two years ago.

I actually skipped the whole rack idea for my trip and went with a larger tailbag that wraps over the top of the pillion seat. I'll post my review in my travel thread.
