2004 Honda CBR600RR track bike - SOLD!!!

Up for sale is my 2004 CBR600RR track bike. This bike is built pretty well and it runs great. The bike has 6,800 miles on it. I realize I'm pretty new here but I think @csmith12 and @snot will vouch for me and the bike.

I am asking $2,600. It will be bill of sale only since the bike was never titled. I'll be happy to give you the VIN number to verify. When I purchased it I called the shop the original owner purchased it from, I called my local shop to run the VIN, and I had a state cop buddy run the VIN. I'm not risking buying or selling anything stolen.

First off, yes the bike has been crashed. It is a track bike.

The good:

Ohlins rear shock
Thermosman modified front shock, I don't know the details
Ohlins steering damper
Stainless brake lines
Vortex Clip Ons
Shogun Frame Sliders
Vortex Sprockets (-1, +2)
DID 520 chain
Spools - no name
Shorai lithium battery
Jardine Headers
Micron Exhaust
Snakeskinz fairings
Vortex rearsets
Safety wired

The bad:
Fairing stay is broken and needs welded (aluminum). I've been riding it like this for two months or so.
Front pads are shot. Good news is I ordered new EBC Double H pads Tuesday.
Front forks need oil change.

I am in the Charleston, WV area but will drive a couple of hours to meet a serious buyer.

damn, if you don't sell quickly I'll give you $2,000-2,500 for it in the spring depending on how much I have by then. I'm dropping some $ on a jennings trip but I should have enough by march-april. Always been a fan of them cbrs and it's been vouched for by csmith who I trust on the matter.

if you sell it before then don't forget to close the thread, glws

out of interest, is this a result of the free track days you're getting? the $ freed up for a quicker/different bike I mean

Thank you. Hopefully it sells before then, there are a couple of bikes that I am looking at. If it doesn't then I'll be sure to let you know. It doesn't really have much to do with the free track days. I just decided to sell the CBR and one of my bicycle frames to get a newer bike. Hopefully it works out for me and I don't regret it.

oh that reminds me, if it does work out that I get this bike (not looking too likely going off of the ebay traffic, but that is ebay traffic so it's filled with tire kickers) there's no way I'd be getting your pregen. That and I'm thinking of doubling up sketchy with a 600 for track days regardless.

Nbd. But let's not bugger up Bruce's thread wih that. I'm only asking about the bike frame because i know he has some sweet rides and I'm curious on size, price, etc. I'd love another bike build.

That said, I'm secretly hoping the cbr doesn't sell because awesome price. And because looking for new ride anyway

It's my BMC TM01 Medium Long frameset. I am asking $2475 shipped for it. I Could be talked down $100 though.

Here is a picture of it from when it was built up.

Thanks. I've had a couple of questions but nothing serious. I think the "bill of sale only" scares off people that are new to track days. If they take a minute and run the VIN they will realize it is legit. Once they spend some time at the track they will realize that half the bikes there don't have titles.

It's my experience personally that the bike is either a street/track bike or doesn't have a title the majority of the time, so a non stolen no title bike isn't an issue at all

it is easy to understand that being an issue for some people though, it's nice to have a title

I'll admit it scared me when I bought my bike. That is why I called the shop it was originally purchased from, then called my local shop to have them run the VIN, after that I called a state cop buddy to run it. That was before I knew about NICB.

Useful link, I've always had to resort to the paid "carfax" alternatives which are also quite a bit slower

I think carfax is a bit extreme for a track bike. We can pretty much figure that any track bike has been crashed and most likely the crash wasn't reported unless it was prior to it being a track bike.

Now when looking at a used car I certainly run (or have someone run) a carfax report.

better safe than sorry is a good way to approach almost any purchase, though the link you provided is what I'll be using for bikes in the future, I'll be sticking with carfax for cars though

Agree completely.

For what it's worth, here is one of the bikes I am considering.

You wanna clue on how to transition to A?

1. register in A on day 2, whatever on day one (don't expect or count on bumping)
2. be bold, you have all the weapons you need, register in A... see step 1 (the fact that you running into constant traffic tells the tale)
3. ride the first session (most A group riders skip it, and you will be warmed up after it)
4. the 2nd session when most A group riders are warming up, you will fit right in and find your place

If you can't find your place, there is ALWAYS no issues bumping down. Looking forward to riding with ya in A.

Selling the Time Machine Frame?! dang, son. I really really don't need a TT bike, to the point that I won't even consider buying it, sorry.

Want me to pass along word of the sale to a couple tri buddies?

Please do. I've had it on slowtwitch for a few days. One guy is interested but he is supposed to let me know this evening. Otherwise it will be going on eBay.

^ that's what I did last time and it worked out perfectly, I just told them day 2 I was sticking with novice instead of I and they were cool with it

that said, with a season of free track days I have no doubt you'll be able to hit A group pace within the season especially if you're already riding like you did in that video

Just got my new track bike home. The picture was taken when I loaded it up in Maryland.

She's very pretty, Bruce. Love her and abuse her this coming track season.

side note: I just rewatched my videos from August at Mid-O, you definitely passed me once. I recognized that Honda, somehow I missed it before. I'll let you know when I'll be there next season. Who knows what bike I'll be on, but I'll definitely be there at least once, hopefully with csmith12. We should pit together next year. The more the merrier.
