New member here!

Hello everyone!! My name is Belinda and I'm a wanna be owner of a ninjette. I've been lurking on this site for some time getting information. I reside in STL, MO area with my family. I completed the MSF May 3rd and have my license.

In April, my husband convinced me to buy a 600 because he was certain I would get bored with the 250. So against my whining and better judgement, I purchased a 04 Katana 600. Long story short, I can ride, but still not as good as I think I should be. Why? I'm intimidated by that beast. Anyway, I convinced hubby that he should let me go with my gut and he said if that would get me riding more then to go for it. So I sold the Katana and now in the market for a 08 or 09 ninjette.

I want to buy one used because out the door here(when you can find one), they're about 5,000. I know I can find one slightly used for less than that. I don't want red or green because all my gear is blue/white/and black. I So I'll keep searching and I hope to have it before it gets toooooo cold around here. Wish me luck!!

Aloha and welcome, Belinda.

The next time hubby wants to select something for you, agree only if he agrees to wear the underwear you pick out for him. Every rider should pick their own ride.

Welcome, Belinda. Your sentiments about the bigger bike are understandable. When I came back to riding after 20 years, I knew I would be intimidated by a large bike. So I went with the 250 Ninja. Now, after just 6 months, I'm making plans to move up in a year or two, possibly to a new Ninja 500.

Enjoy the site!

I thought I was the only one who actually likes the looks of the Ninja 500. I just wish they would redesign that banana seat.

Hey, I'm new here too but welcome anyway, lol! I did want to say that I'm VERY glad I got the 250, even though I'm a taller guy. It's WAY fun, and not nearly as intimidating as other bikes! I hope you find one quick!

Hi Tigress

Hi Belinda,
I just joined this group and read your introduction, because you are obviously a girl (judging by your name) like me. I made the same mistake. I had a 1983 Suzuki 450, which i had lowered, Im very short, took the MSF course and my boyfriend at the time convinced me to buy a Harley Sportster. I only weigh 103lbs and dropped that bike 3 times, always while trying to park the damn thing! I hated having to ask the guys to push me out of a parking space or stressing out when stopping on a hill. It made me fearful and not want to ride. I didnt ride for 2 years and then got the Ninja 250 and what a difference! Im confident on this bike and because of that, i ride a lot more and because of that, my riding skills have improved dramatically. Moral of the story....get a bike you feel confident on. I HIGHLY recommend the Ninja 250! You can get some great deals out there on Craigslist. I found mine on there. Its a 2009 Special Edition with about $1000.00 of aftermarket parts and low mileage for a ridiculously low price. Im going to look at another one tomorrow that a guy bought for his wife. She became fearful after dropping his 500 in a field and refuses to ride. The bike is a 2005 and has less than 1000 miles on it. My fiance has so much fun on mine, he wants to buy it. Good luck!
