Frame color other than black?

Curious if anyone has painted their frame a color other than black - especially on the '88 - '07 250R. If so, please share some pics of how it turned out (or direct me to an existing post). Thanks!

Not a Ninja, but one of my favorite of all time paint schemes. It would be good for a Kaw, too.

I might be wrong, but I think Pickax wants to see finished motorcycles, to see the overall look.

I know, but this is as far as I have gotten on this build right now.

I did the white frame and blue wheels for a local shop that was building a streetfighter GSXR. A bigger photo is on this page about halfway down - http://www.apexcustomcoating.com/photo-gallery/

Depending on what you want to do with bodywork, it may or may not be very visible when completely assembled.

What color bodywork are you thinking?

Thx Jay...my thoughts exactly and in fact the purpose of my original question. I've scoured around looking for photos of a basically stock '88 - '07, fully assembled, with some 'frame farkle' to get a feel for how much is visible. Perhaps not much shows, but I figured while I've got it stripped down to the frame 'why not?'. I think it would be a cool accent, but I'd like to see what others have done for inspiration before settling on a color scheme. looks like I came to the right place - there are some creative folks out there!

Here's a shot of our 2004 -

As you can see, not much is visible if you have all the bodywork on - just the area around the swingarm pivot. We coated our peg brackets black to match the frame and blend in.

Changing the color of the frame is neat, but on this particular bike it's not going to be very visible unless you are going fairing-less.

love it...in fact I already had that exact picture of your 2004 in my gallery of good ideas. Off topic: did you paint the exhausts? Any pointers for that?

They were a black chrome (or something similar) that year.

The only good, long lasting, black finish for exhaust (other than the factory black chrome) is ceramic coating.

I have had good luck with high heat BBQ paint. It is flat black, but has held up well for 2 years now. I applied 5-6 coats.

I agree with the others that not much of the frame is visible with full fairings. If going that route, focus on the steering neck, swing arm mount section, forks, and swing arm. It will be easier to paint only what is visible.

Like you, I thought "Why not? I have it all apart."
