FWIW, I don't think you have a "second generation" Ninjette if you were still breaking it in this year. The reason we call them "pre-gen" ("previous generation," '88-'07, F-series, F-bikes, "classic 250," etc) and "current gen" ('08+, J-series, J-bikes, "new 250," etc) is to differentiate the most common EX250 bikes from the others. What others? Other "Ninjettes" include the ZZR250 and the '86-'87 EX250.

The gen's get morphed a bit on this site. Pre-gen and current-gen works. But for ease of understanding, pre-gen and 1st-gen mean almost the same thing. Yes, I'm well aware that there were a couple of different versions that can be tracked since the model's inception, but it's more an academic discussion than anything else. Many people here use 1st-gen to refer to 2007 and earlier, and 2nd-gen to 2008+. Anyone who needs to know that 86/87 was a bit different from 88 - 07 already knows that, we're not misleading anyone here...

I actually sat by reading/watching in amusement when everyone was helping the guy with the '86 model and pulling stuff from the F-bike's service manual (actually, I just couldn't reply at the time... I'm too OCD to sit by on purpose!). |

Welcome. Sorry for the following:
Are you really Obsessive-Compulsive? Do you have compulsions? A hypothetical example: a panic attack if you don't clean your car, despite the fact that it is 0*F. Would your day be ruined if you didn't wipe your chair off at work before sitting down. How about repeatedly, vocally clearing your throat because the thought just occurred to you that you may have inhaled some unknown particles of dust or something that could potentially be harmful. I do.
