Dear Santa
What I'd really like this year is a Quiet Core for the new Ninja 300. I been good. Promise.

Seriously, guys, the stainless Quiet Core on my current bike (08 Ninja 250R) is fantastic. Amazing sound, great power… the perfect compromise for the street. PLEASE release one for the 300. That bike is going to kill! Thanks and keep up the good work.
The reply this morning:

Quote:
Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the inquiry and comments. We do plan on offering a Quiet Core verson for the new 300.

Sincerely,

Kerry Bryant - President, Area P, Inc.

Yup he gave me the same response as well. The catch is that for a full system there has to be ECU management as well and thats what they too have to wait for so they can complete development. Outside of slipons I think we may have a wait before we get the full system. Waiting sucks......

does anyone know or have the specs for the engine parts? i would really like to know if they are using the same engine for the US/OZ 300 models as the new 250s that are being sold here... (as in the same overall casing, etc, and possibly only needing to change the throttle body, and the crankshaft, or something to increase the stroke length)

at the moment i have no urge to buy another 250, lol... but... oh but if i can convert a stock 250 into a stock 300... oh boy... then i would have a hard time not buying the new 2013 model... well.... eventually in any case, ha ha!

edit.... and i would wait patiently for an AreaP full exhaust for the new bike if i were to get one. i love the one i have now

you don't have to wait, there's plenty of stuff to do on your bike.

right now, you have much more power then any normally aspirated 250.

i would concentrate upgrading the suspension, and controls on the bike for now.

Figured I'd go ahead and register on the forum since I'll be getting my 300 here in October, and I feel I can answer this question. First post!

I got a quote from progressive a couple days ago on a new 2012 250, and the new 300.

The bare minimum coverage they quoted me for the whole year on the 250 was ~180 for the whole year, and the 300 was around 260ish for the whole year. The package with the best coverage all around was around 4-500 a year difference, but I don't remember the exact prices.

So, yes.

Might be some way to get a pregen center stand and bolt it on somehow.

Don't get minimum coverage. If you can't afford full coverage you can't afford the bike

Haha, my premium is going to be atleast around 1,600. Those were just the prices I remembered. Just trying to show that there is a 100$ difference in premiums even in the lowest ones.

Just for curiosity I ran a quote through progressive to see what they would charge. Turns out they don't have a listing for ninja 300R so it falls under "Other sport bike not listed". The premium came to about $1650. When I changed the bike to EX250 with a 298 cc engine, the premium dropped to about $600. That was full coverage + $25K medical.

You might want to do that if when you run your quote. At least until they get a Ninja 300R in the drop down menu.

It sparkles. There's just a hint of metal flake in the paint, so in the sunlight it has an extra pop. Pictures make it look like a flat white, but it stands out more in person.

I'm surprised that they used the older Kawi-Green instead of the 2012 green.

That's because it's not a 300R, just a 300. No joke, that R makes a difference with the insurance prices

Isn't it fraud to claim that your Ninja 300 is a Ninja 250R with a larger engine? It's a totally different bike. I wouldn't claim a 300 as a 250R because i would be worried that the insurance company would say, "we won't cover your 300 because we have a policy for your 250R, not your 300" if I ever needed to make an insurance claim.

I'm into obnoxious as long as I get noticed and I get a lot of compliments on it. If I was going to go for bad ass, I'd likely just do black. I do like the new white too, though.

my insurance co lists it as a Kawasaki EX300.

it only costs an additional $50/yr over the EX250 for the same coverages.

With Progressive online you list it as a 2013, Kawasaki, "other street sport not listed", and put in how many cc it is. If you call instead of buying online you should get the same quote, and as long as the VIN you give them is for the 300 you would be fine. Hopefully the premium will go down alittle once they get it officially listed.

Are there alot of dealers price gouging since these bikes just came out? My local dealer is charging below MSRP, but isn't even putting the ones they have on the floor yet, because they want to get rid of all their 250's to people who come in and don't know about the 300.

they should have the VIN to help them but why take the risk.
always get them to put the correct info on the policy paperwork.

this way everything works out easy.

i find its better to talk to someone on the phone.
this way you have a contact in case anything goes wrong.

That's just for quoting purposes, your rate is determined by the VIN

I wouldn't think that's fraud, if the insurance company has the valid VIN and description of the bike. If they are writing the policy and accepting the premium, and their system doesn't take a new bike so the company fudges in a similar bike, I think it would be hard for them to deny a claim by suggesting that it was fraud. The VIN should give them everything they need.

edit: wow, I should have jumped to the next page before replying. seems like people already have this covered.

Since I didn't have a valid VIN, I just left that part blank. I do think that a "300 cc Ninja 250" is a better description than "other 300cc sport bike" which could be interpreted as half a ZX-6R. It might be half a Ninja 650, but not a ZX-6R. I don't think that's fraud, but Insurance companies are master weasels. Progressive even jumped tables on one guy and argued that their own insured was at fault so they could get out of paying him his uninsured motor vehicle claim.

I was thinking in terms of HP. HP is pretty much what defines a sport bike. A 600 has two injectors per intake and so there are eight of them. That's about 110 HP at the wheel as compared to 65 HP for the 650 and 32 HP for the 300. So in terms of HP, the 300 is closer to half the 650 than half the 600. But its better defined as a 300 cc 250.

I had no idea there were two injectors per cylinder in a 600. Cool! That's how they managed to use massive TB's for top end and use small enough injectors that the minimum pulse length doesn't flood the engine at idle. Why didn't I think of that when I was pondering how they managed it?? Cool.

Like I said, Kawasaki engineers are geniuses.

When you get your Ninja 300, don't forget to go here and fill out your MPG for Alex's gas mileage poll. We still don't have a good sample, but we are starting to get a clear picture.

Red, non-ABS.

ABS models won't be available in Canada until January apparently. Too expensive anyways.

My dealer just called and said he has a white one in stock. I'm going over to look at it tomorrow.
