hey im new to this thread and im considering purchasing a ninja... does anybody have any advice on models or what to look out for?

and welcome to the crew. Lots of good advice here. How much riding experience to you have and what is your budget? If you have never ridden, the first thing is find a MSF, Motorcycle Safety Foundation, beginners course. That will help you immensely.

Then you had better expect closer to $4000+. You probably won't find many for the low end of your budget.
