Am i too big for a 250r?

im 6'3 205 (i plan to lose 20 pounds in next couple months) so lets say 6'3 190 am i too big for a 250r? does anyone have size comparisons between 650r and 250r?

I am 6'1" 190lbs and I am comfortable on it. I don't feel squished or cramped at all. I think you should be good

A great bike to start on. I've got several larger ones that I don't ride as much as the Ninjette. I'm 6'2" and about 205 and love riding it. In fact, it's the most fun I've had in 54 years of riding. My riding is limited to backroads since I'm retired and can go anywhere I want anytime I want. Two to three hours of curvy backroads will clear my head better than anything.

Don't care about what other people think, you should be comfortable with more than adequate power for street riding.

i understand what your saying, but i like looking good, good clothes, car, etc. looking good makes me feel good.

but thanks were about same size.

I never understood the whole "too little power for my size" thing. Lol like a 600cc SS would have any trouble flipping a 6'5" 200 lbs rider off.

But it sounds like you're more concerned about comfort....which is understandable.

It might take some rearset adjusters to get your legs comfy. In stock form, you might look a bit large on the bike (subjectively) but not overly large. It all depends on your arm length. If you are 6'3'' and have arms long enough to scratch you knee without bending over, then yea.... the 250 in stock form, is a problem.

You should be safe then, go sit on a few 250's/300's before making the final choice. Shouldn't be a major problem though. I am 5'10'' and arms 190lbs fully geared with long arms.

A few of my friends are bigger, one rider is 6'3'', long legs and long arms and sits on the tail. I can post the pic if you want.

well i plan to upgrade to 650r or a different 600 bike in 2016 if all goes well. just want a 250 as a learning exprience and its cheap.

Since the 250 is the top of the food chain you can't "upgrade" to anything. You can get a different bike though.

No one loses weight over Christmas-New years, or for a fact the entire winter months.

Like everyone (almost everyone) on here knows, once you get a 250 you don't ever need another bike.

Statements like this often seem reasonable to new riders. Substitute "car" for "motorcycle" and it's easy to see how crazy it sounds to those of us who've been riding for awhile.

No training? Zero experience? Do you have any idea how to operate a motorcycle? How do you plan on getting your motorcycle endorsement? You.... ARE... going to get a motorcycle endorsement, right?

Hope you're planning on doing the MSF course to at least get some basic skills.

I pay less than zero attention to Harleys, but I think I saw something at the motorcycle show last weekend that speaks volumes about the mindset. I might have gotten this wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was really there.

It was a Harley bolted solidly down so it could not be tipped over. People got to sit on it and it would rumble and shake as if the bike were running, so they could feel what it's like to be on a real Harley.

As in.... it's not about actually riding. Not about cornering, acceleration or braking. It's about the noise, vibration and image.

I know some Harley guys who are really decent, stand-up, genuine peeps. But they're another species. Not part of the same branch of the evolutionary tree that I come from. They don't understand me any better than I understand them.

the "It's too small for me I'll just get a 600" argument is complete BS. Usually if the person is genuinely concerned about being too tall or too large they should check out 500s and 650s. They have nice linear power bands so it's perfectly reasonable for someone to start out on one unlike a newer supersport. They also don't have what I feel is the real most dangerous part of a supersport, their ungodly amazing brakes that'll flip you over without a second thought. Though it could just be because I'm used to ninjette brakes and slightly overuse the brakes when I get to ride supersports that I feel that way. Anyway, if weight and height are the concern, 500s and 650s are reasonable bikes to own and ride and typically bikes like the sv650 are jacks of all trades and really let you figure out what you want out of a bike so down the line you get a supersport or a sport touring bike or whatever.

As I see it, the long and short of it is you need to take the MSF course: You'll get to ride a lot of different bikes, including probably at least 1 Ninjette, and then you'll have a better idea about what you want/need in a bike

What? In the MSF course I took, you just ride this wretched little 125cc cruiser thing (an "Eliminator"?) the whole time. It seriously feels like it has more in common with a lawn tractor than it does with the Ninja 250.

Some msf course facilities have different bikes, some have all the same, some have different sizes some are locked down to 125's.
