I'll Just Make Lemonade

So…. What do you do when you don’t align your camera right and go out for a track session? When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! So I used the “crappy video” to learn how well I was hitting my lines and reference points. As I chopped up the video, I notice how low & forward I really get my head. And just so you know, the camera is mounted on the left side of my lid (check the shadows).

Link to original page on YouTube.

So for those who don’t know what it really looks like to dive head first into a corner @ 80+mph here is your video that gets as close to it as I have ever seen. For those who know what this is like, feel free to offer up some perspective that doesn’t include; move the camera up, and cover your speedo. Lol It's a bummer it didn't catch my brake & clutch lever. And yea, @ 3:00 my front was pushing in and out repetitively. FUN!

Ugggg… common warm weather, I am so ready to go fast again.

This year I will be racing 250's at this track, I be that video will look about the same, speeds in the corners and what not.

Mistakes I see;
I can see I miss my turn in point 2 times
I am off the race line at least 4 times
I miss at least 4 big apexes
I run wide 2 times
I roll out of the throttle 1 time

Observations;
My hook turns are starting to look pretty sweet
I get to close to the other bike at the end of the video
I get my head over farther while turning left (odd since this track has 8 rights vs 2 lefts)
I can enter turn one much faster
My pickup skills are not consistent
If I improve my hip flick, I can carry more speed through the chicane

What else am I missing?

The video makes it look more narrow than what it really is. It's not as wide as others I have ridden on but it's wide enough to have a real good time. 250's rock on this track, you literally only have to hit the brakes for one corner. lol

I hate music with bike videos. I always start signing and dancing and forget to watch the video.

It might seem hard to sign singing but not when you have moronic tendencies.

My brakes would feel so lonely and unused.

that said, nice riding you could tell how much fun you were having and how close you were getting to the ground. makes me wish dedicated track bikes and track days weren't so expensive...oh wait, I just need to finish a bottom end rebuild and I have one piece of the puzzle.

Thanks!

I can't wait to get back to that track. I spoke to the devil today, she said to "go faster and get lower next time."

Except me, I hit them big on 7, teddybear it on 8, teddybear it on the carousel, and then hit it light on the keyhole. I gotta stop the teddybearing, and get just feather it on the keyhole.

I'm always skeeeerd.

Everyone hits them BIG on 7 brah, it's just a question of when. You better be planning on another Mid-o trip this coming season in the I group. We are gunna work on those braking markers on bike length at a time. I will be riding every session with ya. After that, I think it time you hit another track. Nelson maybe, if you can hack Nelson, there will be no street surface that will have you second guessing EVAR! lol

Dear Putnam,

Thank you for having me back again for some racing this year Apr. 19 & 20. Last time I was here, you took out most of my fellow riders at one time or another in turns 4, 7, 8 & 9. I would like to ask you this time to feast on the rubber that is laid down instead of hard parts and fleshy buddies. Mmmm k? Thanks.....

Sincerely,
Chris
