What car could get you off your bike???

and I don't mean by crashing into you and knocking you over.....

Lets say you have a significant other that you know is worried every time you ride and would be very happy if you were to get back on 4 wheels. Are there any cars out there that might entice you enough to consider a switch to a car as primary method of transportation?

For me, the bike is my only method of transportation these days and I know my wife is worried, especially since my commute recently increased quite a bit. But I am having so much fun on the bike every day that I know I would be miserable if I started commuting in a "cookie cutter" type car again (I know, first world problem, but bear with me). That said, I think that something like a BMW Z4 could also still be a lot of fun; not a practical car by any means, but it could still make the commute enjoyable while reserving the two wheels for the weekend fun ride.

What car would you consider for commuting with a high fun factor?

Realistically, a Mazda MX-5. It is tiny and handles like a dream. Not that fast, but cars aren't in general compared to bikes.

But I would never get rid of my bike.

I could probably get around $3000 for my bike. I wouldn't want to buy a car for that price

EDIT: My dyslexia made me read the OP wrong.

I'd say a Subaru BRZ

If i was offered a choice of:

A: Get rid of my sti and get a cheap, reliable slow and boring beater of some sort BUT keep my zx-14

or

B: Keep the sti, but lose the bike.

I would go with B, every time. Doesn't matter what bike it is. I like bikes but in my heart im a car guy through and through

I guess if I had to give up a bike either a 911 gt3 or a f430 scuderia, lotus exige. Either would do.

Commuting isn't fun no matter the vehicle. A motorcycle can get you through traffic quite a bit quicker, especially here in California, but it's still not fun. It's stressful and does come with a bit of risk as well. I don't mind accepting that risk when I'm having fun on the bike, but commuting on a freeway day in day out has never been fun for me, so it's a little harder to accept.

Big fan of the commuter car + bunch of bikes for fun concept. The commuter for me has been the aforementioned Mazdaspeed3 for many years now. While it's entertaining and playful for a car, it's still a world apart from having fun on a bike.

My lifestyle does not permit me to choose one or the other.

I absolutely must have a car that can carry my band gear/big dogs and be ultra-reliable and efficient. That pretty much rules out anything truly exciting. I chose a Honda Fit and I absolutely love it.

More money would not give me a car of sufficient performance to displace the bike. My bike is faster than a freakin' Ferrari but my dogs won't fit in a Ferrari. So if I HAD to give up my bike and replace it with something that scratches the performance itch, I'd just be buying a second car.

I'm not inclined to do such a thing, particularly.

But if pressed... I've always had a soft spot for Porsches. I like Ferraris too, if it's the right one.

It took a 14 year old astro van to get me off two wheels. And I was car free for like eight years. Of course the van is for taking the bike to the track.

Scuderia is awesome, sadly they are stupidly priced and rare as heck over here. Gt3 or 2 would be nice, but for now the z32's will do for when it is raining. Way faster than the bike, wet or dry

Cars just don't do it. Even if I were willing to spend a ridiculous amount of money, I wouldn't have that much fun. And unlike Alex, I even enjoy commuting on my bike. Just being on two wheels makes my day better. If I had to make my commute in a car every day, I'd quit my job.

When I do buy a cage, it will be something big enough to pull a bike trailer to the track, or to put a bike in/on.

I would do unspeakable things for that car, but it still wouldn't make me give up riding. though my dream car is lotus for sure I doubt I would ever own one due to impracticality without a lot of extra money to spend. I'll most likely end up with a truck or a hatchback that can tow (for track days) and a bunch of bikes.

This scenario will not happen, I have my gas sipper convertible, my VR6 GTI, and soon my 4 door 50 mpg hatchback. When the cars aren't the option, the wife hops on her bike, and I chose one of mine. It's already snowing here, so, it's more of a seasonal thing here. If it were nice all year, I would probably be on bikes more

But,a fun commuter, for me the Elise is not. Have you ever gotten in and out of one? Tight cockpit as well.

I want a 4 door, R32 lol

Personally, it'd take something pretty expensive to get me off my bike, as I already own a very fun commuter car. It'd take a 911 gt3, exige, GTR, M1, etc. I have owned some pretty fun commuter cars in my past and bought them both before I owned the motorcycle to help stave off my craving.

if you're just looking for a fun car to drive that has good gas mileage, I'd recommend considering:
Mini Cooper S
WRX
Mazdaspeed 3
GTI (or R32 or Gulf R)
MX-5
Focus ST
lancer ralliart
Genesis Coupe
BRZ/FRS
s2k

I have owned a Cooper S and now the WRX. The cooper S was a freaking spectacularly fun commuter. I regularly got 35+ mpg. After upgrading the suspension bits, I had a car that handled like it was on rails. It wasn't the quickest car on the road, but it'd outrun most, and could certainly out handle 99%. It was comfortable, shifter felt amazing, very responsive steering, and got looks from people all the time. In my opinion, there is no more fun, high mpg, commuter car out there. I miss it at times.

I switched to the WRX for my fun commuter because I had some mechanical issues with the MCS. The WRX is much faster, but doesn't handle as well. Gas mileage is worse (25mpg average), but imo, the tradeoff in power and AWD was worth it as I spend a lot of time driving in the snow.

Id never trade a bike for anything FWD.. especially a FWD turbo. I seriously almost got a speed3, when I graduated.. But got a 3000GT VR4. It was old but ran strong and was pretty fast.. but that AWD though. Never going back to a FWD unless its a pure daily (no fun daily like I have now) Not dealing with that torque steer.

I had basically no torque steer on my MCS. factory optional mechanical LSD probably helped with that, as did the electronic steering and upgraded suspension/bushings. torque steer typically has to do with un-equal length axles (and mushy bushings), which IIRC the MCS has equal length. I used to have an accord, so I know what torque steer is... I highly recommend going on a test drive if you never have, there really is no other car that compares. the GTI feals like a boat compared to the MCS.
