called up some local dealers, they wouldn't go below $130 for the rear pirelli sportdemon. looked around online a bit and most wouldn't go below 120. just bought one from motorcycle-superstore for 106!!! shipped! cheapest i've ever paid for this tire and i'm on my third now.

So you're a big fan of these huh? I'm happy with them but my rear is starting to square off but I guess that's what I get for mostly freeway riding. How much mileage do you usually get out of the rear and what pressure are you running?

yeah i've been getting around 6k miles each. i run 31psi rear 28 front. i found the best way to keep them from squaring too quickly is to apply as much throttle as possible when fully leaned over!

as a reference the IRCs were squared off after around 4k miles... that was when i was doing a lot of commuting. hardly ever got the bike leaned over

He actually has IRC's. I chuckle everytime I read about people complaining about IRC's because I think of Cazper dragging all his parts with no issue. I have no experience with the IRC's but apparently it can be done.

Yeah Cuong has it right... I'm rockin IRC's... just went over 7000 miles and haven't hit the tread indicators yet... planning to get sport demons when I do swap though.

The IRC's will hold after being warmed up. I find them sub-par cool.

Actually, the best way would be to increase your tire pressure. You're already running below factory "recommended."

alternate shock setup and grip settings... 31 felt much better than 32 when getting on the gas leaned over

you do know that street rubber is designed to not need to be "warmed up", right?
only race rubber is designed to be at optimal grip at high temp.

Just thought I'd try a different size. Who knows, maybe it'll feel better? Then again, I should probably try Manu-Specs first. Just thought I'd ask since so many claim a wider tire makes for an easier ride.

i think cuong is on a 140. i'll admit it does look better but i think IIRC he said he couldn't feel any difference.

I'm mainly concerned with feel and ride capability and since it's less than a $10 difference between 130 and 140...

Not sure if it was my squared off dunlops, but the wider tire feel less flickable.

Just ordered a set of BT-003's...Wifey just got her permit this morning, so when I got home from work, we were going to ride out. Turns out I have a flat from a screw in my rear tyre...I'm not even through the break-in yet. Oh well, the stock tyres suck. None of the local shops had anything worth a flip in stock, and the prices they quoted couldn't even come close to MS.

Just got the bike back from the shop today. The BT-003's in 150/60/17 are f#*@'in AWESOME!

I should've ordered these, and put 'em on the bike before I even pulled off the lot. I'm on 880 miles, and the stock tyre got a massive screw in the the side of it. I rode on a plug for the past week or so, waiting for the Bridgestones to show up.

These tyres are stiiiiiiiiicky. Dealer tech swore they wouldn't fit. I've, as of about 60 miles on 'em today, seen nothing even remotely negative about the 150 rear. Highway stability is righteous, and with these particular tyres, tight turns at serious lean are far far easier to take.

I would recommend this as the first bike mod anyone should do to the 250R, after acquiring riding gear, of course.

Phenomenal tyres.

Nope on the ninjette, the fazer had 180's on it when I got it. I am going to drop them down a size when I get new tires for it, not sure what oem for that bike is.

Riding the fazer as much as i have been 150 tires on the ninjette won't be an issue. I am so use to the heavier bike now that the ninjette will still feel super agile just with a bite more rubber on the road

You do know that even street rubber can warm up, right?

If you leave your bike in your garage, let's say it stays at 60-65 degrees. Using a non-contact therometer, take the tire temp. Now, go ride on 5-10 miles on back roads. Check in again. Big difference, eh?

I'm not saying you *always* need to warm up the tires, but the season you're riding in can make one hell of a discount. Granted, summer here in NC, it might not make a huge difference. If the bike sits at work in the parking lot, and it's 90 degrees outside, yeah, probably won't have to warm up.

I frequently ride in the spring/fall, temps down to 40 degrees. You're gonna try telling this guy that your street tire has as much grip at 40-50 degrees vs 90+ degrees? I can tell you right now that's wrong. I've burned through plenty of street tires, and I can tell a big difference between cold and warm tires.

my point was that after a few minutes of riding normally a street tire is probably going to be near its optimal temperature. the hotter it gets, the more street rubber "goes off" unlike race rubber which has a much higher operating temp and has no grip when cold. so whenever i see people on street rubber weaving to "warm up" their tires when they've been riding for half an hour already to get to a set of twisties, i laugh. the only reason i could ever see to weave on street tires is to get dirt off of your tires if you were just in some. granted i will give you, 40F degree tires are never good. thankfully for me i live in a place where that almost never happens

What's even funnier is weaving doesn't really warm up a tire. Acceleration and braking is better if you really want to warm up your tire quick and it's safer.
