Kickstand Tab Removal?
What tools did you use to remove the tab from the frame? I have a 4'' angle grinder but that seems a bit crude to use. I'm not familiar with this type of job.

What you have. Or a air-powered muffler cutoff tool with a 3" disk.
How are you going to keep the bike upright the 99.9% of the time you're not riding it? |

Recipricating saw handles it in about a minute. Just be careful of the fairing tab right behind it. Once you take it off, then you can use the angle grinder to smooth things out. Then hit it with some black spray paint and you are done.

I also drilled out the rearset pegs a bit and use a MX stand, instead of having to lug a rear stand around with me to the track Last futzed with by GregS; July 30th, 2015 at 09:42 AM. |

no.
There is a line across the frame at the top of the tab. Cut just below that line. There should be no mounting holes for the kickstand left.

I used a reciprocating saw with a blade for cutting metal -- then a year later I saw that Brandon Paasch's 250 still had the tab, just removed the kickstand. Since he basically lays that thing on the ground thru turns, I figured the tab doesn't actually need to be removed...

For the 250, definitely cut it off if you plan on racing it. For the 300, you can leave it since there are no clearance issues with this bike.

On the topic of kickstands, is cutting or modifying the kickstand required to be able to put the kickstand down with Hot bodies track belly pan? I see there is a cut out already for the kickstand however I feel like the kickstand spring and would hit.

If we're talking about the 300, I believe you're safe without modifications to the tab.

It's not so much the spring but the tab itself won't allow the bodywork to line up properly. |
