Pets scared of your helmet
Before I de-gear, my cat is extremely scared of me. He's normally kind and affectionate, but he runs away really quick when I'm wearing my gear. Specifically, my helmet. I noticed once when I had my helmet on my bed, he saw it and took off. My bird does the same thing, but that's when I wear any hat in front of him (it's cute. He doesn't recognize me )
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Other cats don't seem to mind, and neither does the dog. |

My moms dog will attack me sometimes , especially when I am wearing a helmet. He stops just Short of actually biting me. He acts very aggressive snapping and jumpin on me. Her other two dogs don't seem to care. Once they smell me they know its me.
Lots of animals are apprehensive around me when I am in gear but chill once they recognize my smell. But I think it is a common occurrence.

My dog barks constantly when any of my bikes are running. I believe he thinks it's some sort of animal that's trying to get me. He tries to attack me and the bike if I ride close enough to him. If the bike's off, he doesn't care if I sit on it. If I'm off the bike, he's perfectly fine with all the gear and stuff.

One of my cats will hiss at me if i walk in the house in full gear. the other 2 are ok.
The funny part it the scared-of-her-own-shadow cat outside couldn't care less. Still come running up when i get home on the bike... Well after i shut it off, she doesn't like the bike itself. lol

hahaha I'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed! The second I walk in with my gear on my cat looks at me so wide eye as if I was a monster and as soon as I walk towards her she dashes down into the basement like a bat out of hell.

My cat couldn't care less when I am in gear, but I think it's cause I leave the helmet out on the counter.
However, I have had dogs, goats, and even a herd of horses flip out when I am around with the helmet on. Learned best to either not approach or just take the helmet off (that looks even worse - ack human removed its head and had a second head underneath!! RUN!!)

My cat wants food, she doesn't care how I look, "feed me". Gone 5 min... she wants food, walk in from getting the mail = feed me, walk down the hall = feed me. She doesn't care if we are geared up or not. However, empty helmet bag = bed.

My dog is adorable, he perks up and runs to the door every time he hears a twin ride by. No joke, he doesn't do it for inline 4's, just twins. The helmet doesn't seem to phase him, he still bonks me with his head and demands attention. No idea what the new lady-dog will do. She hasn't experienced the motorcycle yet.

Set the camera so most of the flight path is in the frame, set it to record, leave, then return wearing the helmet.
Maybe? Just picturing the poor bird's reaction.

My cat recognizes the sound of my bike and runs to the window (or used to when I lived at my old place) when I'd pull up. She headbonks me right on the helmet. She's probably seen me in it so many times. I talk to her, too. She knows its me once I speak.
She does like snuggling into my jacket if I leave it on my bed, though.

This guy has been known to chew up the chin straps on helmets if you're not careful where you put them down.
He also chews on the zipper pulls on my jackets and the cords on my riding pants. None of my cats are afraid of us in full gear, and the dog is fantastic around bikes - very mindful to not get in the way and to wait until you're off the bike before jumping on you for attention.

Me too rogue. My Helmet was scared of my cat!
I came in to find the lining "clawed" and a bit of stuffing hanging out. He claimed a mouse did it but I doubt that I rode for a couple of years with a duct tape patch at the back and always hung it on the coat rack after that |

I've got a bluebird. Whenever he sees something blue, he tries to attack it because they're territorial. But, I decided to try wearing a blue shirt, and he really liked it and he landed on my shoulder and cuddled up against me. It was magical.

Bluebirds are wild and somewhat uncommon thanks to invasive House Sparrows and European Starlings competing for nesting holes. I've never heard of one as a pet but I have heard of "Bluebird Trails" where competing species are manually evicted from birdhouses spaced far enough apart to avoid territorial disputes.

When I get home from work, my mom can hear my bike outside before I pull up, she lets my dog out, he runs over to me as I park and gives me puppy wiggles helmet, jacket, gloves, backpack and all! Now if he hears a motorcycle that sounds like mine he gets excited

Awwww! My dog barks at the door when she hears me, and one time when I took the cage, she got out and ran up to my car and as soon as I opened the door, she hopped right up onto my lap with her little corgi legs.

One of the dogs I take care of regularly is a rescued animal. She loves the sound of my bike and wakes right up when I get home but if I leave my helmet on she won't recognize me and is scared of me as a result. If I take my helmet off before walking in she'll jump up and try to lick my face as I walk in the door.
The other one is playful either way and doesn't notice the helmet.
