Horn and Brake Light not working

Neither my horn or brake lights work after bleeding my brakes and I have no idea why. The fuses look fine.

Any ideas? Blinkers work, headlight work, bike starts, all that. But no horn sounds and no tail light for front or back brakes.

Also the fan hasn't been coming on. In all honesty I have no idea how long the brake lights haven't worked, it all could've gone at the same time and I never noticed until I actually checked after bleeding.

The problems might be related, but they might not. If neither front or rear brake switch is activating the light, I'd start looking at the light itself rather than the sensors. Are you sure the bulb is good?

If the fuses are fine, it's time to start checking your wiring. I would start with checking power to horn and brake light. I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me, but that is your next step.

I'll pull it out and check but they're all on the same group of wires. Over at barf they suggested looking into a bad grounding

so yeah, looking at everything. If I can get the horn to work but the tail light to not, then it's more likely the bulb as well.

Easiest way is to use a test light to check for power at the positive wire (on the horn or at the light socket) when you activate the button/switch.

That gives you a good place to start.

I'd check your ignition plug and rectifier plug too.

It would seem my brake light was just a loose wire. :|

Derped there. My tester light seems to only work when it wants unless there is only power to all the wires sometimes.

Congrats on the first issue. Someone will verify this, but some components won't work (maybe receive power) until the bike has been started.

Nothing worked started or not before. Now the brake light works. Still no fan or horn.

with the light being the main safety issue in mind, I'm tabling the electric issue for now in favor of the fact that I just had to drop $100 on a new battery.

$100 could have gone towards a very, very needed valve adjustment.

Did you check the grounds or switches for the horn or fan?

Doesn't the fan only come on after hits certain temp?

Sorry to hear about your battery, BTDT in January when my bike was my main transportation. If it turns out that your horn isn't any good, I may still have mine from when I switched them.

Yes, it is a sensor for the temp and switch for the fan. The fan also could have a bad wire.

i've got the wiring diagram but electrical systems may as well be magic to me. I need to read up on it or have someone show me eventually.

I appreciate the help, though!

To follow it, start with the beginning or end pick a wire and follow it on the bike. It is intimidating at first but once you are looking at the bike and working one at a time its not so bad. Hopefully someone close to you can help. You could also use a tester to test continuity of the wires.
