Jennings GP in Florida June 2nd

I know it's last minute- does anyone want to join me?

I hate going to the track alone and all my budies have bailed on me so far.

I will be there in spirit.

Here is an easy way to make a friend. Look for any bikes that have an "assfaultjunkies.com" sticker on it. Tell them "Reactor" sent you. If there is a track on the east side open, there is normally a junkie there riding.

I expect photos, video and a full report. lol Enjoy!

I'd like to get a group of 250's together for a track day in FL.

Besides CCS races does this ever happen?

I'll be racing next year but still have funds for a few more track days this year and would like to be in a group of mini ninjas buzzin around the track.

We were there with WERA last weekend. ESS was the biggest grid of the weekend, period. It was great. Draik got two 3rd place finishes! Fastest lap time for the 250's was a 129.xx.

That makes me feel better. The ccs race at Jennings had guys doing 1.24's amd I thought I was way off pace. A 1.29 is a lot more achievable for me.

Dang, who were the guys running that fast?

What mods are allowed with CCS?

Well the day went well in the sense that no one crashed and we all had fun.
I went to the track with 2 goals
-Get my times to below 1:30
-Drag my right knee

The second goal was easy- you might think it was easier than it should have been but old motocross injuries cause me to have weird hips and I am much more flexible to the left of the bike than the right.

The first goal of a 1:30 seemed feasible as last month when I was there I was running 1:33 and 1:34 pretty consistently.

It was 95 degrees and there was really no breeze at all so it was stifling hot and even with 6 Gatorades I was dehydrated and feeling queasy all day. I started the day in Novice to play with the 2 other Ninja 250s that were there but my pace was more than the group felt comfortable with and I had some requests to bump up to intermediate. There were only 6 people in the I class so I figured I could get a clean run at my goal.....

Needless to say I didn’t hit that 1:29 mark, or even my last month’s times.

I participated in a mock race and got a decent start compared to the 600/750/1000's I was running with and ran the first half of the first lap in 3rd but was severely underpowered and unable to keep up with them. The result was a photo finish after a 5 lap sprint for dead last place. I will be honorable and say I came in last to let the R6 feel like he didn't lose to a 250

There is always next time.

I have a couple videos- but they aren't great at all so I don't really want to make them public.

I don't know his full name, but Walter F. has been a front runner in the Spec class all year.

There are two seperate classes the 250 can run in:
-Spec 250
-Ultra Lightweight Thunderbike

In the spec class very few modifications are allowed with the hopes of keeping it inexpensive and easy to compete. You can do suspension changes- but no front end swaps, exhaust and carb tuning, but no carb swaps, you can run with an aftermarket filter with the snorkle removed but have to use the stock air box and you must have a filter, clip ons are allowed but no modifications to the shape of the body- including no double bubble or changed radius windscreen.

The Thunderbike class is a little different but there are "gentlemen's rules" to keep things essentially the same as the Spec class. You CAN run the 300 though...

I bout **** my pants when you said someone was turning 1;24's on a 250 at jennings ! I double checked the results and lap times with CCS. They have the lap times for the Ultralight Thunderbike class listed with Ultralight Superbike (SV650's and air cooled Duc's). Walter (1st place finisher) is the CCS ULWTB national champion in CCS and he was running a best of 1:32.525, slow for him. Also a side note: Walter won that champion ship at Daytona on a box stock Ninja aside from the slip on.

This was me in the spec 250 class race. Camera died but I raced for podium at the end and had a quick run off on last lap.

This was me in the Ultralight Thunderbike race.

That Walter is the "250 Alien". That class is a lot of fun and good size grid. Smallest grid I think was 10 so far this year. You can find out more on the Spec Class 250 Facebook page and website.

So are we talking 1:24 or 1:32.5?

1:24 is fast on a 250.

Last time at Jennings I was running 1:25's on a 1000 warming the bike up for my son.

Alex, what are you running for times on your 1000 at trackdays?

I've never run Jennings on a 1000. On a 600 though I was doing 1.29s

1.32.5 on a 250 is reasonable.

Is that the orange bike? I thought it was a 1000. If I get free time I'll go up tp Jennings with you. I've been traveling alot lately. Daytonasportbikes do trackdays anymore?

Are you running Daytona this fall?

I have a z1000 yes, but it's never seen track time. I have had a number of track bikes in the past few years.

DSB unfortunately stopped hosting trackdays after we lost our leader who was personally funding them. I wont be back to Jennings until september- it's too freakin hot this time of year.

I will be at Daytona for Team Hammer, but not racing that weekend.

Have we actually met before?

Not since Dave passed. What happened to Art? He disappeared.

I did Dave's last trackday and we have been on a couple of rides together. I've been to Arthur's parties also.

I'm going to try for the Team Hammer fun day at this fall if I'm in town.

Jennings in late Sept or October would be cooler for me. Hopefully I can get up there with you then.

I'd think 1:32 on a ninja 250 with no motor work is a bit more than reasonable. To me, it's pretty damn good. The fastest lap by a ninja 250 (no motor work), as far as I know was around 1:30's. I've heard those Wera boys were in the 1:29's but not sure. Again, please keep in mind that there is no work done on the motor.

Foxrider, last time I was at JGP I was doing 1:30's on my 600. Let me know if you go so we can have some fun. :-)

That sounds like a plan. Can you take my bike up there? I live over by Seabreeze. Any locals going? I see it's backwards. You going for the weekend or just Saturday?

It would be a nice warm-up for Daytona Hammer time.

I've been living the nightmare with my two kids so I deserve a break, or two.

Check out my other recent threads- I'm doing hammer time too.

For the 5th I've been given clearance just for one day. I should have room. Just the bike or you too?
