Run over in reverse
So... this may qualify as the weirdest accident ever. Sitting in the turn lane of a stop light, second vehicle -- in front of me is a Prius Taxi Cab. Light turns green, Prius's reverse lights up and she backs up on top of my front tire.
Fender snapped off, taking it to a shop tomorrow to have her checked out and make sure the wheel is okay. Fun times. |

That is weird. The other party is paying for damages right? Also, could the hit have been avoided by leaving enough of a buffer zone? <---This vid illustrates that leaving a space in front doesn't always help though. Accident at around 0:20...intense frustrations afterwards.
Hope you and your bike are ok. |

Yes, the taxi company's insurance should cover all the damage. I had about 3/4 of a car length between us; I can't imagine leaving much more space.

Good thing they accepted responsibility.
Didn't know what other analysis questions to ask because you aren't at fault, so asked about spacing |

Same happened to me while filling up in a gas station. Ask the shop to verify the rake angle of the steering column (frame) and the straightness of the front forks; those are easily bent and expensive. Ride it and observe any changes in the steering and front suspension feeling, as well as the perpendicularity of the handlebar respect to the front wheel while moving along a straight line. A cyclic wobble while moving may mean that the rim of the wheel has been deformed. I hope damages are minimum, though; also that you are OK.

this is a really good reason to run video. my sister was in her car in the city..car was parked and turned off, and some flower company's van backed up into her. the guy said it was his fault and they exchanged insurance. Later, the driver and company owner "produced a witness" and said she rear ended them. Had to go through so much trouble, and in the end it ended up being "no fault" and she had to fix her own car.
There are a lot of dishonest people in this world. Gotta protect yourself from them!

This has happened to me in my car. In a parking lot. The frikking Suburban hit reverse so hard it managed to bend my frame and crumple the hood.
Then they tried to claim I was at fault/that there was previous damage to the car. WTF?! People. |

For an update: I'm stranded in LA until my bike gets fixed and the Taxi Cab Co's "Fleet Manager" has been out of the office and so I'm basically sitting on my thumbs waiting at this point. So far no shenanigans though.

Hey Yakaru, how did this play out? Have you received settlement for either of your crashes yet?

From this incident I had all the repairs paid directly by the cab co. and got my bike back for all of 2 days before the left turn collision. As for that one, I haven't seen a dime from the insurance of the guy who hit me, even though they've accepted liability.

Wow, that blows...Hopefully everything gets settled quickly for you. I still haven't even had an adjuster come to check my bike out yet and it's been almost a month since my incident. I also yelped the other party's insurance (infinity) and read literally nothing but horrible feedback:/
I am so jealous that you've already got another bike |

I learned how to drive manual in a prelude, I'd love to get one to mess around with one day It was like you drove the car instead of the car driving you...if that makes sense
