Bought the bike but need some help.
I bought that '06 ninja 500 got it for a good price the smoking is from a Carb issue and not very bad. But now I have a bigger issue I knew I had been laid down but didn't really inspect the handles as much as I should have. As I was unloading it from the truck it got away from me and fell over, when it did the right side handle broke. After looking at it carefully I see that someone had already welded the handle back on there before (very poorly I might add), it broke right at the end where it bolts to the connector. I will get some pictures up as soon as I figure a way to get them from my sh*tty phone to my sh*tty tablet. Is there anyone parting out there old ninja that still has there handles I could sure use a pair? Thanks to anyone and everyone.

So you bought it aye? You could always bend the bar back and have someone weld it again. You should be able to score some new/used clipons from ebay if there are no ninjetters able to help.
Let's see some pics and gratz! Now update your profile.

I don't know I am working out of town this week so I won't be able to do anything to her untilled the weekend. I am hoping that they just need to be realigned. When i am sitting on the bike and have the handlebars straight, the front wheel is pretty far off center. It was throwing me off too because I would think that I'm pointed forward but I was actually turning to the left. I am pretty sure that's why I dropped.
If you know of any good pointers or know any tutorials on fork realignment it would really help. |

As far as your forks go...they could have been torqued when it was droped by the person you bought it from. Support your bike from falling so you can get your front tire off the ground. With the tire off the ground loosen your fork tubes from the upper and lower triple trees...you only need to loosen them. With your risers off you can check the measurements of how much tube you have sticking thru the upper triple tree. Make sure both sides are the same and retighten bolts. Lower the bike and cycle thru suspension travel and adjust as necessary. A block or something of the sort under the tire will keep the tubes from sliding all the way out while you got the triple trees loose.
I torqued mine pretty bad and sprung the rear shock when I dumped mine last fall. This is what I done to mine to fix it and its right as rain. Hope this helps |

@pinkard129
Thanks for the advice I will be sure to try it out, always nice to learn something new. I have gone to the ex500 site and asked around but haven't gotten any response, people here seem more social. |
