Started playing the geetar when I was 13, and pretty much obsessed over it. Switched over to bass when I went to college and started listening to lots and lots of reggae. Switched over to DJing, because I love the control a DJ has over a crowd. Gave that up once every asshole and their mother started to spin.

Me playing some Sublime/Slightly Stoopid basslines.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Haha it's called tapping, one of my favorite things to do on my guitar. Let's you play all kinds of note combinations not normally available to standard picking. But DJing/scratching is pretty fun, never got into it myself. Just played around with em at Guitar Center haha.

Thumbs up for bass and sublime haha. I appreciate people who legitimately like playing bass. It's an instrument that never gets as much love as it should. And I hear you about DJing, my uncle used to do it until clubs just started paying kids to bring in their iPods haha.

I get a good laugh out of "dJ's" these days, though there are still some good ones around. I must admit I hook up an iPod and a computer these days... But with 4 tables, 2 cd/ mp3's, and rane.

Well you tapped the hell out of it!

So true. That's why it wasn't until I started listening to more and more reggae that I grew to love the bass. Reggae (I think), is the only genre where bass is the premiere instrument and guitar is more for rhythm.

Back in the day when I had all my fingers, both eyes, and use of my legs I played bass. Learned piano as a kid but I loved the bass guitar.

I always liked Chris Squire's basslines. Paul Samwell-Smith on the Yardbird's "Lost Woman" and Graham Maby's work on Joe Jackson's "Friday" are pretty impressive also. Robert Levon Been rips on Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Love is a sickness". Just to name a few.

My wife plays piano and plays violin (good enough to play in the local symphony). She sort of freaked out when I bought her some Held gloves, very lightly used, for well over $100. Once she thought about it, and realized how much she values having all of her fingers functional she came around.

The only "artsy" thing I do is working on my bonsai. Having all my fingers functional is pretty helpful for that too.

I must be slippin' How did I miss this thread.

I also play guitar (my son too), drums and was the singer in a band about 10yrs ago (if you can believe that lol). My son has a video or two floating around somewhere, I will dig up the urls for you.

I nearly quit playing after I played for the KY Biker association in 1998. The requests to play Lynyrd Skynyrd nearly became a riot because I didn't have any prepped on the song list. We played our 4 songs and got the hell outta there STAT. hahahahahahah

After reading through this thread, I got in the old storage box. I found an old tape cassette with some stuff from back in the day where I am the singer and play guitar (lead too). I had to laugh because it was recorded in the back of the garage with a pink Barbie radio. Lol

Tell you what @Sykes92, you upload some original music, I will upload some of mine. I am not really big on playing covers.

cool stuff, you look smooth and loose, it would appear you put some time into that song.
I used to dabble, not much time to practice anymore plus my drums are in another state.

I play a little guitar, I like acoustic the best but none of that cookie cutter simple chord strumming crap. I like electric to, prefer metal music with some crunch but not death/speed metal. What kind of pickups you got on there?

I drum a little but haven't practiced or even had much of a chance to play in over 2 years. My drum kit sits at my brother in-laws house in Maryland where we used to jam for now and until I decided I have time and space for it.... and neighbors that tolerate or simply lack there of

Hard to tell but they look to be EMGs. I have those in my ibanez and love them in that axe but prefer the custom wound dimarzios in my jackson when it comes to a bright tone.

I love my EMGs too. Unfortunately they're kinda wonky for recording since they clip internally, but they sound so good live. I have a Peavey 6505+ and it is just the best sound ever.

Now to just merge my bike and my amp together... to form the worlds most beautiful noise.
