Strange Carb's
Hey guys, last week i was taking my carbies off for a good ol' cleaning and i noticed the strangest thing on them.
I've got coolant lines that run into / through the carb on the throttle body side - something I'd never seen before! Just wondering if you guys have these also & what function it serves - is it to prevent the carbs icing possibly? I'l grab a couple photos a little later tonight but for now. |

It's common on small engines, ATV, mopeds and such. They regulate carb temps. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Something to do with the temp of the air/gas mix burning at a optimum rate. I don't know the science behind it.
Some take em off, others leave them on especially racers.

Neat!! Byron and Chris hit that right on the head. Those are to keep the carbs a more consistent temp. None of the US models had those to my knowledge.
That's cool though!! Free parts that make your bike better to ride in more condition Does it warm up a little quicker since the coolant starts warming up immediately and warms the carbs as well at a cold start? |

I havent noticed it warming up any quicker than another bike - still takes a couple minutes just cruising however it might help the fuel evaporation process when its really cold!
I havent even seen these on any other Australian models which confused me when i first saw these ahah! Ohwell cheers guys! |
