I crashed

I just crashed going 45-50mph 3-4 hours ago. Finally home nearby resident was able to load my bike up and take me home after the police report and medics were done..not in a good mental state right now... If I didn't correct I would of splattered.

Anyone know anything about bent forks? I can't exactly tell whats bent but the handlebars don't match up with the wheel...

I'm glad I was wearing all my gear. My helmet took a decent hit, jacket pulled up a little bit giving me a good bear claw, a little bruising where the hit pads aren't on the pants.

Now its repair time

good to hear you made it out ok from a pretty high speed drop. Don't worry about the bike right now though. You'll have plenty of time for that... Just take it easy and get a good night's rest

Hang in there buddy. Glad you had your gear on. Makes me glad I ordered up full gear for my wife and I. We didn't skimp on quality, just price. Motorcycle Superstore has some really good deals I must say. Thanks for the post. I'll be sure to wear my riding pants all the time...and, zip my pants to the jacket =) I'll make sure the wife does the same when she steals the bike.

Well, that`s pretty rotten. My condolences, and I hope you are feeling okay. If it`s any consolation, a lot of guys who have a crash like that aren`t smart enough to wear proper riding gear and tend to be hurt pretty bad...
You sound like you`re up and walking, which is great, though you might not feel like it right now.

Don`t let it get you down - when you decide to get back on a bike, if you can`t fix your Ninja there are plenty of other bikes out there waiting to be rode.

Here are a few pictures. My gear is amazingly all in great shape.
More details on the fall...

I was taking a pretty good corner going about 45, I was following another bike from a distance, he probably took the corner at around 60 so he wasn't around to hear or see the accident.. I was making the corner and my rear felt a little loose, I corrected, it brought me a little too upright and inertia pushed me to the outside of the turn and off the road... if there was another few inches of street I would of been fine.

I believe it to of been from poor correction and somewhat target fixation. I have paid a ton of attention to not target fixating...but I think when I realized I was going off the road I taget fixated... I'm pretty sure target fixation wasn't the cause of the crash, but the improper correction. If I didn't prep to fall I would of probably ran into the side of the mountain instead of into the shoulder to do some somersaults.

No full side picture, for some reason it didn't save on my phone. Sorry.

I'd show pictures of my gear but it all just looks a little dirty. Thanks to astars for the s-octane gloves (held up amazingly) astars stunt jacket and scorpion xdr pants. The soft armor in the hips really helped as did the hard shoulder and elbow protection.

Thanks for everyones support... Its continuously replaying in my head and its all I can think about right now, but I'll be back up sometime soon I'm sure.... and will be asking for help when it comes to repair

And yes, as the hours go by more and more bruising can be felt. I'll see how it goes in the morning when I try to get out of bed

Yeah...funny story...it was even farther bent than that.
The motorcycle chp officer felt bad for me so he stuck around for like 15 minutes trying to bend it back...he took it off and tried to use his bikes crash bars to torque it on.

After it was at least semi-shiftable we realized my front tire doesn't match up with handlebars.. Hopefully that won't be expensive.

ouch

Glad to hear that you are not in a hospital. Speaking of which, do you get checked out by your doc or the hospital? But I am glad to hear that you were able to walk and go home afterwards. Take it easy for a while and don't worry about the bike, it can be fixed, you have to heal at mother natures pace.

as in when the wheel is pointed straight the handle bars feel like they are slightly turned? i noticed this after my crash too...kkim told me to loosen the bolts on the triple trees and then smack the wheel against something solid till it all lined back...worked fine for me =)

Good that you are OK, the worse feeling is having a pristine bike damaged but better that than your body. I was told that its not if but when you will go down and you are a smart one to have that gear on.

This happened on salmon falls road. About 2 miles in. I've taken the road a few times and I am familiar with it.

Very glad you're OK. As you're well aware, there are parts of Salmon Falls Road where a crash at an unfortunate location would be much more severe; sounds like you found a place with a little run-off at least...

EDIT: My bad, I'm thinking of Salmon River Rd, I'm not familiar with Salmon Falls Road near Sac. Salmon River Rd. up in Forks of Salmon, CA is along a sheer cliff for much of it, and a misplaced wheel will have the bike and rider falling a couple hundred feet before hitting anything.

I don't have comprehensive (mistake). Since I still owe 4500 on it... it is worth buying new fairings and shifter.

Thanks yeah... I shouldn't of even been on that road... I was going to just take the road that goes to lotus...still twisty but not as crazy..but at the last second on green valley road I turned down salmon falls.

I didn't go to the hospital or doctor, only a minor hit to the helmet that was only at the very end of the tumbling, paramedics looked at it and said the helmet is even reusable (lucky). I'm very sore today, thats for sure. My entire right arm which took the first hit, is really sore, as is my hips, neck, back, legs blah everything from rag dolling in rocks.

Good to hear you are relatively OK!

I personally would not use the helmet again, even if the medics say it is fine, they do not know what internal damage has been done. Maybe post a pic?
