GSXR 600
Welp. I did not fully stick to my long term goals. I wanted at least a track session before switching to a 600cc from the 300cc but i found a really great deal. I also think part of it is that I was thinking I would have more time in the year to maybe attend some track sessions. I have come to the realization that I am a bonified commuter that won't see the edge of his tire wear for several thousand miles.
So, I was looking at any 600 really with the hopes of finding a great deal on an r6 but i didn't have many restrictions as to which one I wanted. This gsxr apparently has a military background in hawaii and only saw 3,600mi as a 2012. So I snatched it up! initial impressions: I find the supersport geometry MORE comfortable on the highway but commuting in the city is certainly a chore and less comfortable than the 300. All that being said, the added weight helps slightly in crosswinds and with semi trucks but that became a moot point on the 300 when I actually learned to hold my weight with my legs. It is much smoother on the highway and obviously has more power. I still find the slipper clutch on the ninja a bit better. Brakes are not too bad on the gsxr but I plan on upgrading the master cylinder which apparently is a common mod for the nissan/brembo gsxr series. Very happy with the purchase. Taking it slow and happy that i started on the 300. still hoping to get some track day experience but it may take a lot longer than initial planning.

Very nice! Excellent bike. You'll be happy for many, many miles to come. Also one of the most comfortable yet capable sportbikes.

The master cylinders do suck on the GSXRs. I'm going to upgrade my lines and use something other then EBCs for pads, no feel whatsoever on these pads. Setup the bike to your body if you haven't done so. You can angle the levers, the rearsets should have some adjustments and set the sag to your weight.

Take it to a shop to see if the recall has been done.

Nice! Love my 750. This is essentially the same bike.
Re your comments on the slipper... are you actually riding so that it trips on a routine basis? I know some riders do that, but I view the slipper function as more of a safety net than something to rely on. Better IMHO to build the skill to blip and downshift smoothly on your own.

I have heard more than one rider say they didn't find the stock slipper to be "all that and a bag of chips". Also, do not depend on that slipper to actually slip in an emergency situation either. The rear WILL lock up if the engine rpms get too far out of whack with wheel speed. They are nice and all, but voodoo magic they are not.

I love da white wheels on that bike as well as my own, multiple bikes mind you.
Use WD-40 to take off the majority of the grime, it makes quick work of it. Finish with a spray and wipe with simple green and move on with life. Many that are quick to write off white wheels have never owned a bike with them. The trick is to stay ahead of the dirt and crud, otherwise it takes much longer to get them back to shiny white. I normally spend about 5 mins per wheel, 10... if I let them go for a while.

Lol kinda freaky but today my neighbor let me try out his 07 GSXR 600, and man lemme tell ya, first thing i noticed is that it revs a sh*t tonne faster than the 250, like in general. At idle, while cruising, and all that jazz, yea yea yea 600cc's, electronics, fuel injected, and tuned, blah blah blah i know, but it was pretty awesome, why do squids think this is a guud furst bike? Maybe cuz it stoopid kwik and gets chicks 4 days right??

Yep, spray the rag. If you don't go crazy, you can directly apply the wd-40, but if you get it on the tire... use your noggin and clean it off before riding. It's not much different than using brake cleaner to clean the rotor, you don't want that stuff on your tire either.

I never understood why people would want to start on a 600. I feel like starting on the 250 really makes me appreciate the 600 so much more. Everything about the bike feels great, even the steering damper my CBR has is a god send compared to what I was used to. Bike feels fast, and super stable just a beautiful machine.. Glad I can truly appreciate it, my only regret is I wish I had gotten a track day in with the ninjette
