A new member in the new member forum!? Shocking, I know.
I'm not currently a ninjette owner/rider, but I'm spending alternate days either rationalizing why I should buy one or why doing so is a rash decision. I ride a CBR600RR most days, but after my first track day I've started convincing myself that a track bike is a good idea. After narrowing down the options, ye olde ninjette suddenly seems appealing. The Team Pro-Motion class tops the list, though I find the idea of endurance racing more appealing than the short sprints. Finding a team while being new to racing seems like it may be an issue, but I have an entire dreary winter to figure that out I suppose. If anyone reading this is on the east coast (USA) and well versed in the small displacement racing options here, I'd love to be pointed in the right direction. As I said, I haven't committed any funds yet, so now would be the best time to save me from my ignorance! Last futzed with by toEleven; October 20th, 2015 at 03:03 PM. Reason: tiny typo |

Welcome!
You have some racing options on the east coast and don't worry about being new and trying to race on an endurance team. While faster is better ... it's not always about winning as much as it is about getting out there and doing it. As you may already know, the 250 is a super cheap platform to race for an entire season. Once well set up, a single set of tires will pull the whole season. That leaves you/team responsible for just fees, gas and any breakage. 250's vs bigger bikes on the track... To put it simply; you are pretty much forced to actually have some talent to go fast. Once you have moderate skill level, you can start passing bigger bikes in the corners that are piloted by low and moderately skilled riders just to be repassed in the straights. At a high level of skill between 2 riders, one on a small displacement bike and another on a larger SS, you will get your arse handed to you. If I had it to do over again, I would have strongly considered endurance racing instead to start off with. It's good seat time, with many of the racing benefits, the costs are split between the team members and it's not all about 100% balls to the wall speed every lap like a sprint. EDIT: Oh... your real question. You basically have some club level racing in the northeast and southeast. There is also some WERA rounds that work their way into your area and everything in between every season too but you will have to watch their race schedule.
