Would you let someone else ride your bike?

I'm a total hypocrite. I just requested on another forum, I know my god, Im on another forum blasphemy, if anyone would be willing to let me test ride their motard. Haha, I'm not sure how cozy I would be letting someone ride my bike. As a matter of fact only 2 people have ridden my bike and those are really the only ones I would let ride anything I own.

I figured what could hurt in asking. How else are you supposed to test out bikes?

Would or do any of you ninjetters ride other people's rides or whore out your bikes?

I will ride anybodies, unless they wanted me to return the favor. Heck no I don't let folks ride my bike, told my dad if he wanted to ride a 300 he could go to the store and pony up... He shook his head and smiled as he called me an arsehole and went on about his day

Depends on the person. They must have an M1 or a motorcycle background and they must be someone I have a reasonable amount of trust in. Also depends on the bike. When I had my pregen 250, I really didn't care too much about it being dropped because it was already cosmetically ****, but I would be more worried about a newer or more expensive bike. I've lent that old pregen to people for months at a time to take care of when I wasn't around and they could ride it around and everything. I wouldn't have let them ride the 300.

You can ride my bike if I can ride your wife.

Now that I think about it I've let quite a few people ride my dirt bike when it was new. That's kinda ironic since I expect them to crash especially when riding with us.

I don't let people ride my bike unless I'm very VERY confidant in their skills. The only friend I have that I've allowed to ride my bike was a much more experienced rider than me and also a long term friend.

Reason being is I don't want someone to make a dumb mistake and hurt themselves and possibly the motorcycle. I would feel responsible and I'd likely be responsible for the damages.

I have once but I was apprehensive about it. My stepdad wanted me to try out a "real" bike, the Honda Shadow 600 or 700 (since his huge Harley is too big for me anyway) and I was going to ride it the following day during the group ride. The trade off what he wanted to ride a sportbike for the first time. He's much taller than me and lanky and in the end the Ninja was just too physically small for him. But oh boy was I watching him for awhile just cause its my baby.

Wait, twice. A friend asked if I wanted to ride his 250 Rebel since it needed a short ride anyway. I trust him and reciprocated by offering my ninja for the same short ride.

It all depends on trust.....some random guy asking on the forums...no. However, I have a few friends who have the required traits:

1. They are competent enough, physically, to ride a motorcycle (sorry uncoordinated friends)

2. They understand the whole concept of if they crash it they should help fix/pay to have it fixed (I've met people who think if it's an accident they have no fault or liability, in anything in life)

That's about it...so far only two people have ridden mine, the fellow rider/ex-girlfriend (not ex at the time, boy that'd be a bad idea), and my dad.

No one else has ridden my ninjette other than me. I would let a select few ride it but they all have been on the street longer than me. I will ride someone else's if they offer...(hey i didn't ask, not my problem if **** happens ) As far as dirt bikes, I only let experienced offroad people ride the yz250 otherwise they will crash it, it's almost a given, I let just about anyone ride the KLX 125 but i emphasize it's still a real bike and you can get seriously hurt on it.
I have taught a few people basics of motorcycle controls on the KLX but paid for it once when trying to teach my one friend who crashed it hard and was lucky he was not seriously hurt. I felt somewhat responsible for it even though it was really his dumb fault (he got whisky throttle on the little 125 ) I felt bad so i did not make him pay for anything...physically, I make him pay emotionally every time we go out with friends and i tell them all the story of how he wrecked my wifes little dirt bike

Ninja: yes. She's already been beat and I've taught a friend how to ride on it and she dropped it twice and I really didn't care.

CBR: No, I have one friend I'd trust with the amount of skill to ride it and even then he's never ridden a proper supersport, and is a bit of a hooligan, so I'd be a little wary. I let my dad ride it around the block when I got it and that was scary lol. It'd take more damage in a fall too so...

If they're a friend, yes. In a heartbeat. All my friends are man enough to pay up if they break anything, and they know how much that bike means to me. I've let 2 other people ride my bike, and like you Cam, those are the people I'd let ride/drive anything I own because I've known them forever and I trust them.

Some random dude on a forum, likely not unless they were looking to buy it and they left me with some form of collateral.

From what I gather about the supermoto crowd is that they love to let people ride their bikes, at least around here.

I would if i knew they were capable in fixing damage or pay to get me a new one.
Not many people meet those requirements, and have the riding experience for me to trust them.

I would probably be more willing to let someone ride a fairing less bike.

No, I will never let anyone else ride my bike, excepting the dealer for purposes of test-riding my bike.

As a consequence, I can pretty much forget about riding anyone else's bike.

Depends on who it is and their experience and on what. There are scant few people I would trust to ride my Ninja and all of them already own Ninjas. My cousin, for example, rides a cruiser so he doesn't get to ride my bike.

One of my besties, who was the one who got me into riding and has been riding much longer than me, has ridden my bike, and has mentioned letting me take out his Duc ST2 if I feel up for it when I see him later this month. I also had a friend who used to ride a ninjette ride my baby home for me when I first bought her, and didn't feel comfortable enough with riding to get her back myself.

If I let anyone take my bike out, they would have to be a good friend, whom I trust and who has been riding for long enough that I feel comfortable they can be responsible with her. Ya know, the kinds of people you wouldn't object to riding your wife. So long as they're wearing protection...

yup. already did. I knew it'd be alittle while before my ladyfriend got her motorcycle after the msf so after she passed the very next day i let her ride it to get used to everything she had learned without the worry of dealing with other ppl/coaches.
