Hi there,
Just introducing myself here. My name is Russell and I am here to learn more about the Ninja 250, and road riding in general. I have been riding dirt bikes the last 3 years or so, and am an active crew member of an off road racing team called Rescue Racing. We participate in a northern California/Nevada racing series called VORRA. I am a senior in high school and in an apprentice program at a Ford dealership working on their diesel trucks. I also have a paying job at a retirement home nearby. As you can probably gather, I am a rather busy individual, so I drive a lot. Roughly 60+ miles a day. That gets expensive on a part time job and driving a Ranger pick up (and funding a vw bug sportsman project ) that gets decent mileage, but I would like more mpg's. That leads me to this little kawi that gets about 70 mpg from what I hear. It would sure be nice for commuting purposes, but I am not sure if it would end up being more expensive because of insurance costs (especially because I am a teenage male). Well that's my spiel. -Russell |

aloha russel, welcome to the boards
you'll definately want to look into your insurance options considering your age and type vehicle as you've mentioned. also look into things that could lower your insurance rates (msf course for example). good luck and keep us posted

you are handling things in an intellegent way by researching before buying and finding out the cost and weighing the opportunity costs of the decision.
With that said welcome to a great community of people who have a similar interest as you. |

Hey thanks all!
I think I am going to start posting in other parts of the website. Not sure what of, probably just asking questions/observing for the most part. Snake, it's probably changed a lot since you lived here, heck in the last 13 years I've lived here its grown exponentially. HWY 49 in Auburn is super crowded all the time now. And yes it is quite scenic here. (I just can't stand the winter cold; I know, easterners are snickering at me now ) Just a little update: I bought a book called "Proficient Motorcycling" from a book store yesterday. Its full of awesome information and I am learning a lot about motorcycles and street behavior in general. It also includes a CD which I have yet to look through. I thought I knew a lot about motorcycles, but what I do know is mostly the mechanical workings of one, and dirt riding. I also have been enjoying some "vlogs" on youtube from riders that talk about random things. It's nice to see the world from their perspective (most have cameras crammed in their helmets). If your interested, I have been watching mostly of rebelyell91 and Zmagic97's videos, they both have Ninjettes. Time to learn! |
