I would not really call them a hero. Its not like the car was on fire or she was about to die. All he did was cut a seatbelt.

All it takes to be a hero to someone is being the right person in the right place at the right time to do the right thing.

Sure, the EMTs would have cut her out too, but in her eyes she saw this one stranger have a knife and free her.

Heroism and courage come in many flavors.

You never know if a car will catch fire after a bad crash like that. I've seen less severe crashes that the car catches fire. To that girl i'm sure he is a hero.

Why did he take off with her purse?

If I was in the situation I would have first given her mouth to mouth just to make sure she was breathing.

I like to note that all the cars are trying to hard to get around the accident.

Meanwhile there are two....TWO!...motorcyclists stopping to render aid.

I'm sure they did, biker guy got to her before they did. You can hear them still coming up the road as he's stopping.

They are trying to get around it to make way for emergency vehicles. Every one stopping dose not help if it blocks traffic.

The best thing to do would have been to tell her not to move and wait for the EMT's to extract her from the car. I'm guessing the EMT isn't holding her head like that just because he wants to gaze into her eyes; head and neck injuries can be much more severe in a rollover crash and moving the victim is not recommended. Sure, move her if the car is clearly on fire (better to just be paralyzed rather than paralyzed with third degree burns), but otherwise let the EMT's do their thing.

^^ Normally yes but you can here them saying the car is smoking. It was ether on fire or close to being. Better to take the chance and get her out quick. I would prefer that it it was me in the car.

Smoke is different then fire. It could have been the oil spilling out on to hot parts is all.

Or even just coolant.

We'd probably have a bit more to discuss on each side if the EMTs hadn't been right there, but in that circumstance, I just don't agree that it was the right thing to do. Can't really fault the guys for wanting to help someone in trouble, though.

The biker was cool-headed and practical. She was already half out when he got there. He just freed her so she could get the last bit of her body out. I hope there are people around like that if I get in a bad accident.

No cool-headed and practical would have been calming her down and relaxing her. Not helping her to move and risk even more injury.
