bike won't start. tried everything

so the bike doesnt start. nothing. battery is good..
touch both starter relay terminals together and it cranks...

a working running same year ninja pulls into garage. i use his fusebox, voltage regulator. ignition switch, start/kill button, cdi box and starter relay....same....thing. put all this back on his back. his starts and he drives home....

so today i bought a new wiring harness.
odd. i dont get it. my harness doesnt look damaged anywhere

You will need a voltmeter-ohmmeter and a lot of patience.

You may need to check if your generator is supplying enough juice.

Check this thread for a similar case:

Check for corrosion on the start button itself. I had a mystery issue like that with my horn and turned out it was just corrosion on the metal pieces of the button.

did it start after you cranked it? if not then check if plugs are sparking. pull the spark plug wires and use a spare spark plug, ground the threads against the engine and check for spark.

what makes you think it's electrical in the first place? the complexity?

you need fuel, spark, and air. what do you have? what's coming out the exhaust?

keep it simple

So it doesn't crank unless you jump the starter terminals - right?

If so, you need to look at a wiring diagram and locate the wires and path they take. Check for power at numerous points in the system and isolate where it stops. It's possible it could be corroded contacts at the button as MasterCylinder noted.

even if it doesn't crank when pushing the starter, bypassing the solenoid and cranking it that way should start it. you are just bypassing one of the starting system mechanisms. if it doesn't start but cranks when bypassing the solenoid then there is an issue somewhere else.

Most of the time when a ninja doesn't start, its the carburetors. If you have to short the solenoid terminals to crank it, then that's an additional problem.

Your first post says that your bike will crank, but not start. Why are you changing the electrical harness before you know what is wrong? Have you at least checked to make sure you have spark? If you have spark, then the most common cause of a no-start condition is the carbs.

turn the key to on. hit start button..nothing happens. nothing..like a dead battery. but battery is good and checked.
everthying minus the motor itself n stator hav been replaced and it still does nothing. but touch starter relay terminals n it cranks. has nothing to do with carbs or spark...
..its magic. or must be low on starter fluid?

Starter button (post #7) or starter relay.

If not, trace the power - as I mentioned in post #10.

Its starting to sound like you are saying that the bike runs ok, but it wont crank. That's a totally different diagnostic.

So do the dash lights come on with the ignition switch?
Does the neutral light come on?
Kill switch flipped down?
Fuses OK?

You said you shorted the terminals on the starter relay, but those terminals are not accessible. You probably mean the starter solenoid which has big nuts that are accessible.

That said, you have to get an ohm meter and track it back to the fault.
