First Track day on the 250

So about 2 weeks ago i had my first track day on the 250. I rode it in intermediate group. This was only my 2nd time riding the bike at all actually so i took my time to start feeling out the bike, but it didnt take me too long to get comfy on it. Not the best track to be riding with other bigger bikes since the whole back section is 90+ and then a very long straight made me not enjoy it at first. I ended up bumping down to novice because i felt in the way of the bigger bikes. I can hang with them in the corner but the small straight parts they would leave me in the dust. In novice i was having a blast passing 6 bikes at a time in the long left hander.

So my thoughts on my stock 250.... i need clip ons and rear sets!! But if i had the rear sets that day i would have low sided from running out of tire. I got used to really having to exaggerate my BP to keep that from happening. I was running the BT-003s, i was quite impressed with them. Cant really thing of anything else.

Any more tips on not running out of ground clearance and tires other then adjusting BP even more?

First off, you did the right thing by steppin' down to N. A riders first time on track should be in N group, so they can get a handle on the differences between the track and the street. One of those being... you don't have to worry about holding people up while on the track. If a rider is faster than you, they will get by.

I will let others help you with your bike's setup to gain and keep clearance.

Glad your track day was good!

Oh not my first time on the track, I am an "A" group rider on my r6. It was my first time on the track on the 250. Sorry If I mislead that. I know people will get bt and it's their responsibility to make the pass I just felt out of my element being passed 24/7 haha

Cool! I just saw your other thread. What year r6? I take both my 250 and (06 or 08) r6 to the track and will bounce back and forth as I see fit. Just don't forget to move your braking markers. haahhahahahaha

i had an 07 r6 for track duty but ended up having to sell it due to medical bills from an accident. This is how i ended up with the 250. its nice having a bike that i can legally ride on the street some, even though i dont really enjoy street riding much anymore.
